About The Cart House

The Cart House is a superbly renovated and styled barn conversion with a shared hot tub and meadow garden, set just outside Liskeard, 12 miles from Looe resort with a boarding kennels and cattery tucked away onsite. The semi-detached homestay offers reverse level accommodation over two floors with two bedrooms and two en-suite shower rooms and sleeps four guests.

From the external iron staircase, enter into the open plan living room on the first floor with apex beams, wooden floors, comfy sofas, unique dining table and smart kitchen. The interior throughout is a fabulous fusion of character and contemporary comfort with mood lighting options and quirky artwork.

Triple aspect views offer green landscapes over the hills and ownersâ€™ own garden. On the ground floor, the two bedrooms boast pristine en-suite shower rooms.

At the front of the property is a little patio area for relaxation, and the meadow at the rear is a generous space with luxury hot tub, lawn for ball games and picnics, and benches for blue-sky dining, barbecue and undercover bar, plus ample off-road parking to the side. The Cart House sits in the grounds of the owners own home down a country lane, and their kennels boarding business is tucked away.

Coastal attractions are reached within a 30 minute drive. Harbourside Looe with long stretch of sandy beach and galleries, fish and chip shop and eateries galore will beckon for waterside adventures.

Polperro, the picturesque fishing village and fabulous Fowey are much-loved destinations for boating activities, super restaurants, inns and galleries. Walk the south west coastal path promising scenic seascapes, pretty villages and good Cornish beer along the way!

Liskeard is a short drive away for shops and provisions. Discover the rugged landscape of Bodmin Moor, visit the Monkey Sanctuary or head to the sea for a boat trip or day at the beach.

The Cart House Reviews

The Cart House is a top rate accommodation, all facilities needed for a comfortable stay. Matt and his brother Dan have done an excellent conversation of two dilapidated barns to a very high standard, nothing was to much trouble. Situated in the countryside for a peaceful stay. The accommodation is situated less than 5 minutes from the A38 and less than 10 minutes from Liskeard for local supermarkets. Ideally situated for places like Looe, Polperro, Mevigissey, Newquay, all within 34 hour and Truro and Falmouth within 112 hr Some lovely places to eat in all mentioned above and also a lovely pub in st Neot the London Inn, well recommended about 15 minutes away. We would like wish Matt and Dan all the very best and we are sure to return in the future.

We recently spent a week at the Cart House. It is a fantastic barn conversion in a countryside location and really does look as good in real life as it does in the photographs. Matt is a great host, with plenty of helpful local advice. Brother Dan has fitted and repurposed some brilliant retrophone tech to satisfy your inner geek. Matt also showed us around their neighbouring property Elvan Cottage Ref. 976855 which is finished to an equally high standard. We would have no hesitation in booking either property again in the future.

I spent another week for the fourth time at both cottages. They are just so relaxing and the family and the cats are all friendly. What an amazing holiday

The Cart House is well situated to explore the surrounding area being so close to the A38, but still in a very rural location. The upside down nature of accommodation lends itself so well to the property in terms of views and the bedrooms being cool which is of considerable benefit when sleeping in hot weather. All facilities you could ever want are provided, supplemented by quirky tech and made all the more pleasurable by the owners. Thanks in particular to Matt and his assistant sausage the cat.

Amazing property with beautiful views and absolutely everything you could need in selfcatering accommodation. Hot tub was a nice touch and kept clean and as hygienic as possible throughout the week as a shared facility. Owners Matt and Dan were very helpful and friendly! Their cats Dom and Sausage were even more so coming for sleepovers on several of the nights and popping in for the occasional fuss lovely, furry friends. The house in is a great location for people wanting to explore the local area during the week we visited Adrenaline Quarry great for the dare devils, Carnglaze Caves beautiful underground experience, Truro Farmers Market a little further out, around 50 minutes but a nice shopping day, Looe Bay amazing pasties, fish and chips at Kellys and a lovely soft sand beach and 2 local supermarkets to get supplies for the week Morrisons and Aldi. We may very well be returning in the future!

Good central location. Very helpful and friendly introduction by Matt and his Brother. The grounds are well kept with great views over the fields and woods. The cottage itself was immaculate and well presented, it is spacious with a fabulous kitchen. The beds could be more comfortable but I accept it comes down to individual requirements. The welcome pack was basic and a few additions would be generally well received. I would definitely recommend and return.

Matt and Dan were excellent hosts. The property was everything you could wish for with amazing gadgets that kept us amused. Had it's own telephone exchange, Hot Tub, Bar and BarBQ. It was immaculate, clean and comfortable. Great location, easy to get to the south or north coasts. Would definitely recommend.

An excellent choice for a reasonably priced cottage with all modern facilities. Spacious rooms comfortable chairs and beds ,large tv and tvs in both bedrooms. Heating is excellent. We are already in the process of re booking.

A really wonderful and beautiful space. The Cart House was so special for New Year and we really enjoyed our stay. Matt was a lovely host and had everything prepared, finding a bottle of fresh milk at our door step on our first morning was a really lovely touch. Great facilities especially the kitchen which was perfect for cooking. The bedrooms were a great size and super comfy. A great location that was peaceful but also easy to then explore the area. Only a couple of small suggestions, I would have liked a full length mirror or better dressing table style mirror in the main bedroom. The hot tub was such a treat and we enjoyed it our first night but the second time we went to use it, it was very cold and too late to speak to our host which was a little disappointing. Wed absolutely go back again, such a wonderful place! Thank you for our stay.

Had a fabulous week here celebrating my mums 90th. Matt & Dan were friendly & more than helpful nothing was too much trouble. The cottage was well equipped and we needed nothing . The hot tub was amazing, will definitely be recommending The Carthouse to friends & family and hopefully returning there soon.

Perfect accommodation in a perfect area to explore cornwall. The owners where friendly and welcoming and was always about to help or just have a friendly chat. We enjoyed our week stay and would like to return with family again. The cart house was equipped to a high standard and was amazing. Matt, Dan and Dad and Sausage the Cat were really friendly. Mrs Riches suggests to get a mirror for the bedrooms for when drying your hair as both bathrooms have 2 mirrors.

This Holiday home was just perfect. The location was amazing. The interior was stylish and well equipped. Beds comfy and outdoor space was an added bonus. It felt cosy and that's always a nice feeling. The owners were welcoming and friendly. I recommend taking time out to lie in the hammock and take it in. The jacuzzi was needed and appreciated at the end of a busy day exploring Looe, Polperro, Fowey, St Ives etc..... as this property is located perfectly to pop to all these harbours or inland villages. We shall definitely be returning in the future.
