The Hobbit Hole is a wonderful idea and beautifully designed and executed. Very comfortable space and central to many local amenities.
Angela
Great property, very private. Hot tub a bonus. Treats awaiting us on arrival were a lovely touch.
Peter
A 5 night stay in October, which proved tobe a massive hit. My wife and I took my wifes 86 year old mother ,who had such a lovely time she really didnt want to come home! She now wants to find out more about all things Hobbit related, as she loved the decor. As did we! A lovely, secluded spot with marvellous attention to detail throughout the propeRead morerty. Thank you Mr and Mrs Garrett for giving us a great five days, and thanks also for the generous welcome basket. Hide
Kevin
Cottage has everything you need
Kayley
The Hobbit House was a quirky and beautiful cottage to stay in. We loved all the Hobbit details as fans of Tolkien and the children loved the circle door and the bedroom wing layout. The hot tub was a hit with everyone.
Carl
Lovely place for a relaxing week. Fantastic feel to the property.
Jo
wonderful holiday, great hosts, very welcoming and there if needed but respected our privacy also. The welcome pack was a lovely and welcome surprise thank you.
Gareth
We had a lovely sunny week in the Hobbit Hole and our son really enjoyed the theme (he's been inspired to listen to The Hobbit audio book and is part way through the actual book). The cottage is lovely and the nods to The Hobbit are great, we enjoyed the themed games and books. Location wise it is brilliant, very short drive to the shops or beach w ith the Thatched Inn and sunset walks on the coastal path very accessible on foot. The hot tub is great to relax in after a busy day. Recommended!
Michelle
Really lovely hobbit inspired accommodation. You have everything you need in the cottage. Although you feel Iike you are in the middle of nowhere everything is only a short drive away.
Gary
We absolutely loved the Hobbit Hole property!! Everything we could possibly need was provided, and some lovely extras. It is perfectly placed for walking from the property, and central for lots of places to drive to. Dogs are really well catered for too!!
Jennifer
The Hobbit Hole is delightful and wonderfully thought out / presented. Its proximity to Westward Ho is great, especially for families and dog owners, as its great for both. Note for dog owners: the cottage garden is quite small and would not be fully secure for a small dog, but our two were fine. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and even though the p roperty is very close to the owners home, we felt that we had privacy. Lovely welcome basket and Prosecco on arrival, and good hot tub.
Neil
A wonderful place to stay. So much to do close to the holiday home. There is nothing the owners haven't provided. It is warm, clean and comfortable. The local information pack is brilliant, recommend others use it.
Charlotte
We loved our time at The Shire! The thought and effort out into its creation is evident throughout the property and we loved its quirkiness! Our dogs loved it too and were so relaxed there! Were already planning on returning with family! We didnt have a pen to write in the visitors book so wanted to say thank you to the owners for a lovely stay!
Christopher
Beautiful cottage in a gorgeous area. Everything was clean and tidy, the kitchen and utility room was well furnished with everything we needed and more. The bed was comfy and the hot tub was amazing. We loved the spacious clean bathrooms and the underfloor heating. The cottage has obviously been built with a lot of love and care - carving the names of the dwarves, Bilbo and Gandalf into the wood in the living room was an especially whimsical touch. Stunning area for walks too!
Emily
What can we say. Wow. We had the best time. The secret shire is well equipped and in the perfect location. We stayed with our 6 year old daughter, 2 year old son and very excited 6 month old puppy. They all had the best time. Our puppy did manage to escape the garden and was greeted by a friendly gentleman who was seeing to the horses. We used his long lead in the garden after that. Everyone was so friendly. The hot tub is great after a day exploring. Can't wait to go back.
Adam
Beautiful hide away and perfect location especially for walks with dogs. Loved our holiday here
Jenni
Such an adorable place. This place definitely made our break extra special. Nice quiet area to enjoy the countryside with an easy walk to the coast.
MARK
Amazing location, owners very friendly and helpful, such a beautiful property to just shut the world out once you step inside from a long walk with your dogs Thank you will be definitely returning
Laura
A very cosy, homely cottage with thoughtful touches such as the hamper. The cottage had everything we needed and we had a lovely stay.
Philippa
Lovely place to stay. Owners were on hand if we needed anything but left us be (really useful with anxious dogs!) So close to the cliff coastal path and the welcome basket was a nice touch.
Lucy
The cottage exceeded our expectations. We holiday in the UK a lot and the Secret Shire is by far the best equipped and most welcoming. The garden is great for the dogs and the hot tub is awesome. The welcome pack is lovely, everything you need on arrival (tea, coffee, biscuits & bubbles!) Even if you are not a Lord of the Rings fan, the cottage has a lovely quirky feel, you feel instantly relaxed. We will remember this holiday always, especially as the Queen passed - RIP Your Majesty.
Sarah
Lovely quirky cottage felt like you where in middle earth with all the attention to detail. The welcome baskets was such a nice surprise after a long drive The Thatched Inn down the road was great to have a walk to after a day on the beach the food was lovely or if not a relax in the hot tub. Would definitely recommend to my friends and family.
Peter
It is truly a remarkable place situated in a nice location. Plenty of places to visit in the local area. The hot tub outside is a great attraction. The area in front of the building is nicely paved and grassed as well as fenced to keep the dog safe . The frontage is a suntrap so besides going in the hot tub there is somewhere to enjoy the sunshine
siobhan VIOLET
The accommodation was clean and just lovely so unique and comfortable. Loved the hot tub. Dogs enjoyed the garden. Would love to come back again next year.
sylvia
Beautiful quirky place to stay , bed was very comfy . Good location to explore . The hot tub was lovely to unwind in. Nice little goodie basket on arrival . Perfect holiday and would thoroughly recommend this place , I can promise that you won't be disappointed
Jennifer
Exceeded my expectations, everything was thought of, it was very clean, cosy & comfortable we had a great time. The welcome basket was a very lovely touch so was the chocolates left on the towels. The hot tub was amazing, ready to go when we arrived - kids loved it! My husband bumped into the owner, he was very nice & friendly, but we were left to our own privacy with the owners on hand if we needed anything which was reassuring. I highly recommend staying here.
Ronald
Lovely quirky accommodation to stay in, the area was good for amenities.
Samantha
We had an excellent time at the Hobbit hole! John was really good at communicating - had an issue with the hot water and John immediately came over and fixed it. Great place to relax and unwind, amazing location and the hot tub was such a treat! Would highly recommend a stay here. Even if you're not a lord of the rings or Hobbit fan (although how c ould you not be), it's still a fantastic place to stay!
Sherree
On arrival we received a welcome basket which was lovely and very much appreciated. The accommodation was lovely. The hot tub had a few issues but the owners did everything to resolve as quickly as possible. A very lovely lovely week thank you.
Kev
Well situated just outside of Bideford, this quirky property exudes character. The Hobbit Hole is well equipped with everything that could be required. WiFi is not brilliant (around 2-3MB) but this place is for relaxing not working! Westward Ho! is a couple of miles away along the Coastal Path and the village of Appledore is well worth a visit.
Nicholas
The cottage is a lovely modern, clean and fresh place to stay. Walking distance to the coastal path. Pub nearby. If you visit in winter I doubt you will have any issues staying warm as even when it went to 1 degree at night it was lovely and warm inside. It was not as private as we would have liked and the hot tub was overlooked by the road and the stables so we didn't really want to use that as much as we were looking forward to. Great place to stay. Would definitely recommend.
Jane
If you're contemplating going to the Hobbit Hole, do it. Its uniqueness, charm and locality make it an ideal base for a chilled, peaceful and relaxing holiday. The hot tub is a lovely added bonus. Everything you could need is there in this well-equipped cottage. There's even a Dolce Gusto coffee maker, (wish I'd known this before, as we took our ow n) and a few pods for good measure. The hamper of biscuits, tea, coffee etc was a lovely touch... the bottle of fizz was even better!
Isobella
Lovely location and very creative little cottage.
Rebecca
Loved our stay at the Hobbit Hole! Everything was perfect and felt very magical! Will be back again in the future!
Rebecca
Very enjoyable stay at the Hobbit Hole. We will definitely return.
Charni
The accommodation was lovely and we enjoyed our stay. It was spacious and the wcome box was very welcome! A goodocation for walks and visiting local attractions. We were able to go out and about without hindrance. The owners were very helpful when I mentioned that the we couldn't get the shower working. It was dealt with immediately. Would book aga in.
Charlotte
Fantastic quirky cottage which was so clean and welcoming. Great location for walking on the coastal paths. Good food nearby. Hot tub was a bonus. We enjoyed celebrating our sons 21st Birthday here very much.
Heather
Warm and comfortable, a lovely quiet location. Easy to find. We had a lovely relaxing holiday. Ideal for two couples to meet up. We will go again. I have already shown it to friends who will love it.
