We had a wonderful stay here (March 2023). The cottage was beautifully appointed and had everything we needed for the week. Loved that there were some blankets, towels bowls etc left for any doggy guests. The welcome book had really helpful information not only on how to use the facilities within the cottage (eg oven, log burner) but also details o f things to do and places to eat locally. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay again.
Jane
Lovely cosy cottage, really secure for an escape artist dog. Beds really comfortable it was so quiet-we slept like logs. The cottage is central to many of the attractions in the Peak District and Would certainly return. My only issue would be with holiday cottages, it took 4 attempts to book the property as we wanted to take an additional dog, but t hey were very reluctant to contact the owner regarding this. Eventually they did and the owner was fine with it, an out of season booking nearly lost.
Susan
Very clean, comfortable & characterful house, with lots of thoughtful touches. Fabulous views from most windows and lovely walks without having to use the car. Wish we could have stayed longer! We didnt manage to get the hot tub up to the required temperature (our inexperience) and were disappointed that we couldnt use it. Owners living next door w as not a problem as felt very independent and not overlooked in any way.
Jessica
The cottage is beautiful and set in a great location with beautiful views. Its in driving distance to many places such as Matlock, Bakewell, and Chatsworth house. The cottage itself is beautifully decorated and very cosy. Our dog was in her element and loved walking into the surrounding fields. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The cottage is a 10 minute drive away from Sainsburys which we found really helpful. Would definitely recommend and would love to come back again.
Jane
The Old Cart House is a beautiful cottage, comfortable, well equipped and super dog-friendly with its totally secure courtyard garden. Great location with good amenities nearby as well as fantastic scenery and plenty of good walks. We'll definitely be back!

The cottage was clean, comfortable and cosy everything you could wish for. The kitchen offered every appliance you would ever need with a great stove. Bedrooms very comfortable with lots of storage.
Rebecca
We had the most magical time staying in the old carthouse. It was bright, clean, cosy and incredibly well equipped. The courtyard was just gorgeous - we sat out under the twinkly lit pergola each evening enjoying the big skies and hot tub. Our houdini dog Monty was totally safe in the enclosed garden and loved our daily walks down to the woods with the hidden pools and waterfall. Lovely, helpful owners too - wed have been very happy to stay a few more weeks!
Katheryn
Excellent cottage, wonderful hosts and a great time had by all.
Victoria
Beautiful cottage in a stunning location. Very comfortable with everything you need to have a great holiday. The hot tub was very welcome in the blistering heatwave and was really easy to use. The garden area is so well set out with 2 seating areas. All in all a great holiday.

The Old Carthouse was exemplary and very splendid. Beautifully conserved building, excellently appointed, amidst the wonderful Matlock and Derwent Valley landscape. The private courtyard, dining and BBQ space .. and the hot-tub .. were also a special luxury. The welcome from the owners was warm and friendly. A great holiday. Thank you.

This was our first holiday with our pup! Being a bouncy golden retriever who will walk and walk, the location was fab! Enough room for her to explore in the secure courtyard and chill in front of the log burner after exploring the local woods, waterfall and streams all day! The property is beautiful & the views are fab! Waking up to the calves runn ing around in the field opposite was lovely! The property is very dog friendly! & has all the home essentials and more! Would definitely recommend!
Louise
This cottage was very nice, clean and had everything needed. It was a great peaceful location with nice walks. The owners were very friendly and accommodating.
Brian
This is an amazing holiday destination. The setting, and scenery are absolutely stunning - and this is matched by the property itself. So comfortable, and well specified, we settled in straight away, and had the most relaxing few days. In addition to the interiors, the garden has been beautifully designed to be an inviting and relaxing environment. Our dogs loved it too. We have booked to stay again.
