The Old Carthouse Reviews

Oliver
We really enjoyed our stay at the Old Cart House! The location is perfect, just a quick drive to Matlock and Bakewell, but still super peaceful and rural. The house was spotless and had everything we needed. The owners were friendly and approachable, making us feel welcome. Also, the Halloween chocolates were a lovely surprise for the kids, especially since they couldn’t go trick or treating. Highly recommend it!
Emma
We stayed at this cottage in August and had a really lovely time. It’s beautifully decorated and had all the essentials for a comfy stay. The courtyard was perfect and totally secure for our dog, which was great. We loved exploring the walks nearby and took a few days out to discover more. The hot tub was a real treat, though it took a bit of fiddling to get the temperature just right. The owners were super friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend!
Emma
The Carthouse’s setting is truly gorgeous, with breathtaking views everywhere. The cosy courtyard with comfy seats and the hot tub was a lovely surprise. Inside, it feels very homely and has all the essentials. We really enjoyed our stay-definitely recommend it!
Emma
Really enjoyed our stay, comfy, cleanand had a great time!
Emma
We needed a peaceful break and this place delivered. The views are stunning and the cottage is beautifully fitted out, honestly high quality. We brought everything we needed, so no trips out were necessary. Our little dog had to stay downstairs, which was a bit of a shame since he’s small and very well behaved-he ended up sleeping downstairs because he’s nervous and panics if left alone. Still, we really enjoyed our stay and would come back!
Alex

We loved the location of this cottage, it’s honestly stunning both inside and out. The decor is stylish but still feels really cosy, which we appreciated. Even with the rain, the views and nearby walks were lovely. The outdoor space was a real bonus, perfect for our dog and so sheltered, we could still enjoy sitting outside on sunny days. Definitely a great find!

We had an amazing stay at the cottage! It’s so charming, spotlessand the owners really went the extra mile with a dog box filled with treats, blanketsand toys. The woodland at the bottom of the farm was perfect for walksand afterwards, we loved cosy evenings by the fire in the lounge. Honestly, there’s nothing more we could’ve asked for-it’s a really special place we’ll definitely visit again someday!
James
We loved the cosy feel of the cottage, with lovely touches that made it special. The location is perfect, offering easy walks from the door and close to places like Bakewell, Matlockand Chatsworth. The private courtyard was great, even if too chilly in November to sit outside. We enjoyed a few relaxing evenings in the hot tub too. Dog-friendly places like this are hard to find, so we’d definitely recommend it!
Emma

We loved this cosy little cottage! Perfectly secure for our escape artist dog, which was a relief. The beds were super comfyand the place was so peaceful we slept like logs. It’s ideally located for exploring the Peak District’s main sights. We’d definitely come back. Only slight hassle was booking - it took four tries to add an extra dog because the holiday company was hesitant to contact the owner. Luckily, once sorted, the owner was totally fine with itand we managed to secure an out-of-season stay. Would recommend!
Emily

The courtyard with its twinkly lights and the hot tub was a real highlight, perfect for relaxing evenings. Our dog Monty felt totally safe in the enclosed garden, which was great. We loved exploring the woods nearby with the hidden pools and waterfall. The owners were lovely and very helpful. Honestly, we’d happily stay longer if we could!
