Dale End Farm Cottage Reviews

The cottage was a lovely size and very nicely furnished. We only had a couple of small issues which let the property down for the price ever so slightly but we would still stay again, as we had a lovely break. The cottage is advertised as having a log burner but did not have the kindling or matches to be able to light the fire and only 2 logs to last us 2 nights. We were able to source some at a shop back in the village but it meant another trip out on the evening we arrived to go and source these. The hot tub was fantastic and felt very private. The only issue we had with this aspect, was that we where provided one towel per person for the duration of the stay, so when they got wet from use after the hot tub, we had to then use the same towels getting out the shower which hadnt yet dried. The last issue we had was with the shower itself. The holder for the shower head was broken meaning you couldnt move the head to face you and the only position it could be kept in was sticking up in the air. Other then that we had a great stay, the kitchen and bedrooms where lovely and very comfortable. We went on a fantastic walk around the local scenery and enjoyed sometime in the shops and cafes in the local town of Bakewell.
Really happy with our stay. It was as expected and presented in the photos. Clean tidy, cute and cosy. Working WIFI and smart TV to access Netflix, prime etc. Perfect for a Peak District stay with the dog. Rural, but short drive from places. 15 minutes from Bakewell town. within 30 minutes drives to local known peaks or places of interest to visit. Enjoyed watching the ducks and chickens out the back window in the mornings. Only thing missing compared to other stays, is that there is usually a booklet or laminated sheet containing all the relevant information in one place on your stay with WIFI details, how to use the appliancesheating, where to put the rubbish, how to work hot tub, local attractions and restaurants take aways etc. We figured everything out but it would have been useful to have all this information in one place during our stay. As we stayed with a dog, we would have also found having a dustpan and brush or a hoover and a form of mop useful, to keep the place clean and tidy during our stay, we found a broom but that was all. Overall it was a pleasant stay and we would stay again.

The cottage was perfect set in beautiful countryside, the owners Steve and Zoe were welcoming and very helpful. The cottage was spotless and very cosy particularly once the log burner was going, everything you could possibly need was provided, we would love to stay there again and would highly recommend it for a relaxing break. Lovely place to stay Very clean and well equipped Hot tub was great Friendly owners Peaceful place to stay
Steven
The cottage was very clean & well equipped. The location is ideal with excellent pubs with exceptional food all local. Our dog was fascinated by the horses & alpacas on the farm , she thought they were great. Nice hottub & the beds were comfy.
A brilliant 3 night stay at Dale End Farm Cottage. The place was very clean and tidy with much thought given on making sure we had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. The host Steve was very helpful with local info for us. We were a family of 4 with two boys aged 12 & 11 and we used the place as a base to do a lot of running and cycling on the various traffic free trails such as Tissington and Monsal. The hot tub after full on days was great and very much appreciated. Highly recommend Dale End Farm cottage!
We really enjoyed our stay, the cottage had everything we needed and was clean and comfortable. It's set in a beautiful area and was very peaceful. The owners were very friendly and popped their head in to welcome us and if we needed anything we could just ask, they were also happy to help with recommendations of local walks and things to do. The only thing I would say to anybody visiting is make sure you come through Elton to get to the cottage my satnav took me from the opposite direction which is a very narrow bumpy road and worth avoiding! Thank you for a wonderful break and we hope to be back soon
Perfect location in a quiet setting. Lovely walks around. Accomodation was of a high standard. We felt very relaxed here.
We had a fantastic holiday at Dale End Cottage. We had everything we needed and the surroundings are breathtaking. Highly recommend.

Absolutely fantastic place to stay. Perfect for exploring with lovely local walks and a short drive to Bakewell, Chatsworth and Haddon Hall. The owners could not have been more helpful. Sad we only stayed for five days, would definitely recommend.
Lovely cottage with good facilities and well maintained. Its in an ideal situation for exploring the Bakewell area. Steve the host was very friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The only downside was the road from Elton to the cottage. It is the worst road for potholes etc that I have driven down.
Having stayed in many cottages, I have to say this is one of the very best. Clean and tidy, well equipped, well furnished. Decor and furniture all above standard. Great location. Owners very friendly and hospitable. Would highly recommend this property and wouldn't hesitate to use again if travelling to this area.
We had a WONDERFUL time. One of our girls said 100 thumbs up!
Louise
Beautiful cottage which was clean and had all the necessary amenities. Set lovely within the property, its quiet but also a lovely environment for our kids to play in the garden. My youngest adored seeing the animals and my eldest got to play football outside. The rooms were comfortable, the fleece blankets in the lounge welcomed for watching a movie. Arrived to milk and cookies and we ordered a food delivery which was on time and so convenient after a long drive. Beautiful surroundings and a great location about 20 minutes from everywhere. We had a lovely stay. Thank you
This was a really comfortable cottage in a gorgeous setting. Although it is in a farmyard with other properties, it is tucked away so feels private too, but with help on hand if needed. If you love walking, this is ideal as you can walk from the house or drive a short distance for other great walks. There is also lots to see nearby, such as Haddon Hall, and country pubs galore. If you love animals the property has free ranging chickens, and alpacas and horses in the fields plus sheep and cows everywhere you go. We really appreciated the EV charger being part of the facilities which was a reason we chose it. We had a lovely week there and would happily rebook it.

Beautiful accommodation in a quiet location. It is decorated to a good standard and well maintained. It is well equipped and had everything we needed. The only thing which let it down was the double bed as it was very squeaky and kept us awake during the night. My partner ended up having to sleep downstairs on the sofa.
Had a lovely stay at Dale End. Cottage was clean, nicely decorated and well kitted out. Wonderful location for exploring the peak district. Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning.
Thank you for a great stay. The cottage is perfectly located to explore the Peak District and is a comfortable and peaceful place to stay. Children loved the trampoline!
We really enjoyed our holiday at Dale End Farm Cottage. It was set in a quiet and peaceful setting, but convenient for travelling to several places in beautiful Derbyshire. Wifi was appreciated as mobile phone reception was poor due to rural location. Owner was exceedingly helpful. Would happily recommend it as a good and reasonably priced place to stay.
Brenda
Dale End is a little gem in the peaceful surroundings it sits in. The cottage is immaculate and so comfy, photos didn't do it justice. Wanted to bring the sofa home with me! So many lovely places to visit from there and we were fortunate to have been there for the Bakewell International Dance Festival, what a wonderful day.We had a lovely peaceful time, we will be back!
Katharine
This is an amazing little cottage , is attached to the owners house and there are two other properties on the farm but there was a lovely garden to sit in and Steve and Lucy the owners were available if you needed anything, we didnt but they checked we were ok and had settled in . The cottage is immaculately decorated inside and the sting room had the most amazingly comfortable sofa ever sat on . Kitchen well equipped and smart tv . We didnt have to use the log burner but looks amazing . The cottage is away from the bustle of a town there is a pub within walking distance , in the nearest village but cant remember the last time was able to sit out in a garden and just listen to birds without any road noise . This cottage is a gem and plenty of parking and also EV charging point and is only 6 miles from Matlock so Im a very central location
Jonathan
We enjoyed a lovely week staying in the cottage which is very peaceful and has been renovated to a high standard. The downstairs is very compact, with limited storage, but very comfortable and cosy. Lovely little garden but worth noting that it is not private as the trampoline and swings are available to the other two properties on the farm. The owners were very friendly and happy to offer recommendations in the local area. Thank you.
Pauline
Wonderful few days spent in your beautiful cottage, shame about the rain but you cant control the weather! Would recommend staying here in comfortable surroundings and within easy reach of Bakewell, Matlock and Chatsworth all worth visiting.
Thomas
We had such a lovely holiday at Dale End Farm. The location is beautiful and a real retreat away from normal busy life. Surrounding by lovely scenery and great walks. The owners were really kind, helpful but not intrusive. Our little one loved the big trampoline and alpacas who are really friendly. The cottage itself is so well equipped and done to a very high standard. Nice comfortable beds, hot shower and good WiFiTV. Would highly recommend and we would love to go back!
Lovely cottage beautifully decorated. We were 2 adults and 2 children aged 6 and 8. My girls loved seeing the animals on the farm especially the ponies and made use of the trampoline, swing and slide. It was in a good location to be able to explore the Peak District. We were grateful that Zoe had advised us to take an easier route to and from Dale End Farm which was left out of the farm and used that route as appose to the one my sat nav was directing us to. My sister and I enjoyed how quiet and peaceful the farm was and the views are lovely.
What a brilliant little cottage, stayed for 5 days with the granddaughter on half term. Close to lots of attractions, but far enough away to be nice and quite. Well maintained and very nicely furnished. Better than the pictures, exceeded our expectations. Looking to book again.
The cottage is in a lovely location with great walks, access to Bakewell and Chatsworth and looking out over a field with alpacas. The cottage has been well refurbished and is very modern inside. Note that it does not have a washing machine and there did not seem to be any instructions for the property we did find details online but mobile reception was unreliable. The cottage was very cosy although the heating did not seem easy to control and we had a lovely time exploring the local area.
Brilliant cottage, which we will happily return to! The cottage was really lovely and cozy and was a real home from home. Would and will! recommend to all our friends and relatives. Only minor issue was the lack of any literature about the house, so we had no idea how to use the hob, what to do with rubbish and laundry and what the WiFi password was? Could be that a previous guest has taken the information book home with them by mistake?
Lovely cottage, beautifully renovated. ..peaceful setting. Would have prefered being in control of the timing of the heating in the cottage.
Lovely accommodation clean, comfortable and well equipped. Beautiful location. Owners friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Would certainly recommend.
Deborah
If you want a sumptuous, quiet, delightful location, this is it. Everything was provided and quality. The smile icons on the cottage feed back aren't big enough. It was just gorgeous.
Karolyn
We've just enjoyed a wonderfully peaceful and relaxing few days in this delightful cottage. It's set in exceptionally quiet and beautiful countryside with glorious sights such as Chatsworth where we picniced by the stream under one of the magnificent 100 year old trees, Haddon Hall and the stunning Dales are all within easy reach. The summer evenings were perfect for picking up the easy walking trail that meandered pleasantly through wild flowers and grasses near the cottage, then relaxing in the garden afterwards. The fresh air invigorated my 97 year old mum so much that she played with her adult granddaughter on the children's garden swing and scooter there on the final day resisting the temptation to try out the large trampoline as well! The three of us came home feeling very refreshed. The cottage was high on quality. It had a comfy sofa and beds to hunker down in at night a compact but efficient kitchen area with an easy to operate, modern induction hoboven and microwave and a gorgeous shower roomloo upstairs. The attractive lawned garden with cherry tree, herbaceous border and side hedge with sparrows at the front of the cottage provided a very pleasant outdoor space for us to enjoy every day.The garden at the back of the cottage belongs to the owners but was never in use during our stay. Our warm and welcoming hosts, owners Steve and Zoe, who live in the adjacent farmhouse, were very relaxed, friendly and attentive without being remotely intrusive. They are happy for guests to park conveniently outside the cottage on arrival. We would heartily recommend this cottage, especially when evenings are long as the outdoors can bring even greater enjoyment.
Wonderful week at Dale End, so peaceful. Beautiful local walks and views. Handy for visits to Haddon Hall and Chatsworth. We were made to feel very welcome and relaxed by Zoe and Steve so many thanks to them. Regards Linda and Dave
Lovely clean accommodation a bit futher out than i thought but not a problem when we got use to roads. Was advertised having washing machine one thing we needed but there wasn't one owner did offer to do some washing but we managed. Also a hand rail is needed on stairs especially for the elderly and infirm. Discussed this with owner and he agreed to solve this problem. We enjoyed our week despite above.
Valerie
Dale end farm cottage was everything & more of what we expected. We met the owners who were so very helpful & friendly. The cottage was so clean & comfortable & we couldn't have asked for more. Sadly we only booked for 4 nights & wished it had been for longer. It was convenient to visit some beautiful area's. Would love to stay again sometime. Thankyou.
Matthew
Lovely cottage and no problems at all.
Cheryl
We enjoyed staying at this cottage, newly refurbished, very good WiFi. Good base for walking from the cottage and for exploring local area. Plenty of good pubs with food within short driving distances.
Beautiful, well equipped cottage, perfect location, local walks are hidden gems! One of our best UK holidays.
Warren
We had a wonderful weekend. My only negative comment was the lack of bin info on site. There didn't appear to be anywhere to leave recycling and we didn't want to leave it outside for the local wildlife. Otherwise, superb.
