Holmside Reviews

Alison
We had a great week at Holmside. The location was perfect set down a 34 mile farm track and with lovely open views of the countryside. We thoroughly enjoyed the secluded position of the lodge and the peace we found there. It was lovely and warm and the beds so comfortable. Julie was welcoming and always there if we needed her, she even bought candles and a torch when we had a power cut and offered to drive out to collect fish and chips! We spent most evenings relaxing in the hot tub watching the stars and counting satellites. Thanks for a lovely break at the end of a busy year. We recommend.
Hosts friendly and always helpful often going above and beyond

We loved our mini holiday, everything was clean and tidy. We spent a lot of our time in the outdoor kitchen, which was will equipped. Our children liked relaxing in hot top. Walking around and watching the animals. The owner is so kind and helpful.

Just back from a wonderful week at Holmside lodge. Amazing place to escape everyday life. So beautiful and tranquil but not to far away from places to visit. The lodge was so nice clean and certainly well kept by Julie, who was at hand if you ever needed her. Obviously the hottub was the big bonus and was well used. The gardens were brilliant for lazy summer days chilling with a book and lots of wildlife to watch. A holiday lodge with everything you would ever need inc pizza oven and barbecue in its own area. Certainly a holiday we will look to return to and would highly recommend. Stephen, Caroline and Arabella x

Perfect hosts in a perfect location. Everything we needed to make it a special week. The views, hot tub and barbecue area made evenings extra special.
After many years of staying in these types of rural lodge accommodations my wife and I have to agree that Holmside has been the absolute best. Recieved a friendly welcome upon arrival with information about the property and our stay and then we were left in complete peace to enjoy everything that it has to offer. Great gardens with fantastic views outside and inside the lodge everything had been thought about carefully and we could not think of anything that could be done to improve it. We visited the local towns of Wem and Market Drayton where we were lucky enough to arrive at both on carnival day. We also visited Hawkstone Hall and had extensive walks in the spectacular location. The hot tub is completely private and was very welcome after our day of exercise. We hope to visit Holmside again as we are both big fans of the shropshire countryside and staying here would be the best way to explore it. Highly recommended
What a lovely lodge to stay in for few nights away. Very clean and has got everything you need. The people are very welcoming and friendly, they were super helpful. Beds, kitchen, dining area all well set out. The place is extremely peaceful and quiet with having your own privacy. We loved the hot tub to the max especially in the night time with the lights on facing the moon. We have also enjoyed doing bbq outdoors in the seating area which was cool. Would highly recommend to friends and family.Thank you so much for everything x
This place is the best, Me and my family had a wonderful weekend here, we will be back very soon. Julie and Andrew are the best.
We had the loveliest time away at Holmside the area is so private and peaceful so perfect for some time away. This was definitely one of our favourite places we have stayed, the lodge has everything you could need, as well as the added bonus of the hot tub and outside diningbarbecue! We also felt very welcome when we arrived and were informed of everything we would need to know! Have already recommended this place to familyfriends Thanks again!

Locally renowned for the Sheep Steeple chasing and daily goat races this is a really unique family attraction that the kids will love.  You can really get hands on with the farm animals with the animal handling sessions and you can have a go at teaching the parrots to talk!  The crazy craft cabin will keep even the most creative entertained with pottery and painting amongst other things. When you are in need of a rest head for the The Hungry Shepherd Tea Room where you can enjoy a bite to eat and children can burn even more energy in the indoor play area.

Go Ape Cheshire - WA16 6RW

Out of all of the Go Ape! courses the one in Cheshire is the most spread out and it takes staff ten minutes to patrol the site on bike - which gives a good indication of the size of this place.  If you're looking for an adventurous and memorable day out then Go Ape is highly recommended.  Trek through the treetops, swing between the trees and enjoy zip wire rides all as part of your experience.  This attraction opens every day from the end of March to end October and is open on weekends in November.  Go Ape Cheshire is closed every Tuesday except school holidays.
