Comfortable, clean, well equipped cottage with lovely views. Steep steps but not a problem for us, the owners have thoughtfully put stair gates on each landing. Young grandchildren had a great time with lots of day trips out in the car nearby and a secure garden to play in. Matlock has a lovely park, playground and great park cafe which is walkable down the steep hill, the road is very busy so careful supervision walking there needed for the children. Parking a bit tight but we had 2 big cars.

don't be fooled by the exterior on approach, what does not look like much from the road hides a fantastic property on the inside. Lots of open space for family time, playing games, eating and socialising. Lots of outdoor space for all the family. Very clean, well appointed and beautifully finished. Lovely accommodation very close to the centre we was a family off 8 adults and all bedrooms made to suit couples, the beds where very comfortable and extremely large. The only issue we had was the accommodation was on a very steep hill which our parents struggled with. We all ate on Saturday night at Viva restaurant in Matlock, we pre booked meals in advance but still had to wait over an hour for and some of the meals was so poor we complained and got them removed.

Location is great for walking into Matlock which is only minutes away. The outdoor spaces are great, and you can enjoy a lovely evening in the hot tub, lit by the lamppost in the garden! Heights of Abraham - DE4 3PT

This unique attraction combines an array of activities. If you have a look on their website there are some good video clips which give an even better idea of what this attraction is all about. Some of the highlights include the Cable Car system which is actually Britain's first alpine style cable car system. You are transported from the valley floor right up above where you can enjoy superb Dewent Valley Views. You can also stroll around 60 acres of wooded hillside on foot to see an array of birds and wildlife.

Gulliver's Kingdome - WA5 9YZ

Gulliver's Kingdome is a family friendly theme park offering many attractions for children of all ages. The site is rather unique and features a huge array of rides including log flumes, roller coasters and pirate ships. For the little ones there are rides such as the veteran cars and the balloon wheel and Diego and Dora the Explorer are on hand to make sure they are having a great time. Between the 21st and 31st of October the park becomes a spooky Halloween spectacular with a range of shows and fireworks to enjoy. Standard prices are £12.00 for adults and children over 90cm. This is an all weather attraction located in Ilkeston Derbyshire. With a large play frame as well as bikes and ride on toys this is a fun place for young children. The toddler time sessions take place during term times on week days from 9.30am until 2.30pm and are very popular. The admission fee is excellent value for money and parents can sit down and enjoy a drink while the children play. A new baby changing facility has now been installed together with some new chairs making this a clean and welcoming attraction for families. Of course you can't mention attractions in Staffordshire without featuring the fabulous Alton Towers theme park. Rosliston Forestry Centre is a beautiful woodland site with tranquil areas for Fishing as well as some beautiful meadows and a lake. The site is also an excellent place for Walking, Cycling and Horse Riding. Other available events taking place this year include an Archery drop in session, a Christmas Crafting Afternoon and a Mince Pie and Mulled Wine Walk.

It's really easy to get to as well, just 5 miles from Junction 11 off the M42.
