Highcroft Reviews

Excellent location in a beautiful setting. Curious herd of deer looking over the fence at us was an unexpected bonus.
Great setting and the deer were great neighbours!
Fantastic property
Kayleigh
We've just returned from a fantastic stay at Highcroft Cottage. It's a perfect location for all the main attractions in the local area, surrounded by rolling hills and a field full of deer. We used the stay to celebrate two 60th birthdays in the family, the cottage had everything we needed including a large family dining area, well equipped kitchen and 2 living rooms. The hot tub was the cherry on top and Jo the owner came every morning to ensure it was clean and ready to use. On the Sunday we went to the local pub, The Cock Inn, 5 min drive for a Sunday Roast and wasn't disappointed. We will definately be returning! We will definately
The cottage was very warm on arrival. It was also very clean. Sofas and beds super comfy. Lots of utensils in the kitchen. Great views from every window of the countryside and deer. Huge fridge and freezer.
We have just returned from our first holiday at Highcroft. We have had a marvellous time. The house is lovely, well cared for and very clean. The owners Jo and Rob are very accommodating and nothing is too much trouble. One of the delights is looking out of the windows to see deer very close by grazing. Hot tub was amazing. We have had a quiet and peaceful holiday even with four grandchildren in attendance. Hopefully will be returning soon. We also travelled into Matlock Bath and Belper. Both worth a visit. Thank you.

This was our 2nd visit to Highcroft, this time for a preXmas family gathering. We had a wonderful weekend. The cottage is spacious, beautifully decorated and maintained with views of surrounding countryside and deer in adjacent fields. The hot tub is the icing on the cake. The owners are friendly, helpful and accomodating. Thank you, Jo & Rob, for helping to make our stay so memorable

Beautiful property in a beautiful location. We had a wonderful time. Thank you
What a great place, a few friends getting together for a birthday celebration. Beautiful location and a friendly helpful host. I would definitely recommend this as a venue for a great getaway but conveniently located.
Lovely spot. Made to feel very welcome. Fascinating to watch the deer and the hot tub was a big hit. Minor issues with some kitchen equipment but everything was sorted out. Certainly happy to return another year
Graeme
We had a wonderful week at Highcroft. The house was every bit as good as it appeared from the photos and there is some kind of magic in those beds we all slept better than ever! The deer are always around and great to watch, and the views are superb. The hot tub is an added bonus! Jo was super friendly and helpful. Theres tons to do in this beautiful part of the country. Would recommend absolutely without reservation.
We enjoyed an amazing week at Highcroft. The house was beautifully decorated and great layout. The gardens and surrounding areas were so glorious. A fantastic time was had by all !
The house was perfect for our extended family. It was spotless and very comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.
We had a fantastic stay at Highcroft which was everything we could have hoped for. The enclosed gardens with daily visits by the deer was a real treat for the grand children and adults alike. We really appreciate the low key support you provided. We made many lovely memories, thank you so very much.
Amazing weekend for my aunties 60th Birthday! The property was exactly as described! Very clean, comfortable and warm! The only thing I would mention is an outside light near the hot tub steps, as one member had quite a nasty fall due to it being very dark getting out and maybe some slip mats through the outhouse into the kitchen. But overall very nice memories shared! Thank you
Jennifer
Had a wonderful week at Highcroft with the family three generations, the first wow was the deer, then the house itself. Every comfort had been thought of .Loved it .
Rachel
This is a beautiful property in absolutely stunning settings. Myself and 8 friends had a perfect weekend and I would highly recommend it. From the moment we walked in to the sad moment we had to leave, it couldnt have been better. Handfeeding the deer in the field next door was an incredible experience. Walking distance to a lovely pub, hottub, plenty big enough, all the facilities, and very helpful owners who we didnt actually meet but were at the end of the phone if we needed them. Well definitely be back!
Had a family early xmas get together from Friday to Monday . First class accommodation, very spacious with great kitchen equipment and cooking items . House was lovely and warm throughout and log fire burner was a treat to experience. Family enjoyed the hot tub and walks out and around in the local area . My two granddaughters were enthralled with the deer. Highly recommend this property for family gatherings as it has ample space , including an upstairs sitting room we never got to use. Well thought out decor and furnishings of a high standard. lovely photo memories were made for us to look back on. Thank you to the Jo for her help
Alexandra
Absolutely stunning property. We were left a little hamper with different local bits and a bottle of bubbly. The beds were very comfortable, plenty of space for our little ones to play. Will 100 be coming back.
Stephen
The house was immaculate. Kitchen was very well equipped with everything you could need. Bedding and towels of a very high standard. Bathrooms all had top quality products. We lacked for nothing. A lot of thought has obviously gone into this by the owners. The hot tub was enjoyed by all the party. The house is in a lovely spot and we were all fascinated by the deer who were wandering around in the field adjacent to the house. The owner Jo was very helpful providing tips on eating out and where to go. All in all we had a fabulous multi family trip and can highly recommend this property. The best we have stayed at in the UK.
Maddie
Lovely property and a great location. The deer and stag kept adults and children alike enthralled!
Lorraine
Highcroft is a superb property in delightful surroundings. We celebrated a very special anniversary with our family around us and with the additional bonus of the extra firstfloor sitting room and the hot tub. The children loved watching the deer which came right up to the fence, especially when attracted by offerings of carrots! I would highly recommend it the owner was friendly, helpful and obliging and we hope to visit again one day
An absolutely amazing weekend. Can't fault any of it. Having the deers in the garden is also really amazing. You can relax in the hot tub and just watch them. The house was spotless, the beds were the comfiest ever and the added touch of wine and chocolates on arrival was brilliant. I would recommend to anyone xxxxxxx
The house was booked for a family gathering and was just right for the occasion. The owner was very helpful in all respects.
Trudie
Beautiful house with everything you need and expect from a holiday home. The hot tub was a little disappointing, in that it was extra and quite expensive, but fully understand in this current financial crisis. I would fully recommend this property to anyone, I found the owner was very helpful and friendly. The only reason I didnt give the house 5 stars, is because the dining chairs are a little worn, which is very petty I know but it was the only criticism I have. Very clean and homely.
Lesley
We really enjoyed our stay in the property. It was an ideal place for a family get together. The energies in the house were lovely and we enjoyed watching the deer and playing in the garden. The owner was friendly and helpful. We would like to stay there again. Lesley
Francesco
Beautiful property perfect for large families
A very enjoyable weekend in a fantastic facility in beautiful surroundings. Jo one of the owners was extremely helpful in the lead up to our stay.
Sigrid
Very comfortable cottage in a great location. The only thing I would recommend is adding a few good knives and cutting boards to the kitchen.
The house is beautiful all the fixtures and fittings are top quality. The cleanliness was 100 The views were amazing and it was lovely to see the deer and the magnificent stag who were totally unfazed by our Poodles. We had a wonderful family weekend would highly recommend.
Patricia
Lovely situation and beautiful home. Struggled with cooking facilities but owner did everything to help. Information easy to find from owners but could use a visitors book with suggestions for local walks and activities.
Highcroft is a beautiful property and the views of the deers from the house are gorgeous. The owners live nearby and I found them extremely helpful but not at all intrusive. I've stayed in a few cottages now and I'd definitely stay at Highcroft again. There's a lovely pub, called The Cock, about 2 miles walk away which I'd head back to. My party thoroughly enjoyed there stay there.
Excellent accomodation. Plenty of space and really comfy. Really cool waking up and seeing the deer in the field out back. Would highly recommend and stay again.
Edward
Was concerned about the deer as I have quite an inquisitive dog, but the fencing was good chicken wire with wooden fence. Good quality beds and bedding, 6 singles and 2 doubles. In terms of electronics there were plenty of good modern TVs but bring your own HDMI cables. Outdoors there was a decent sized BBQ. Kitchen was moderately equipped, enough pots and pans but nothing for baking, storage space was slightly lacking. Lots of fridge and freezer space, plenty of glassware, crockery and general utensils. Not quite as secluded as I'd like, with another smaller adjoining rental property, but for most this won't be a concern. Parking was a little awkward but plenty of space. Instructions and materials provided are very useful and accurate. Cleanliness was second to none. Overall one of the best holiday homes I've stayed at.
Steven
The house is just perfect for a family holiday, situated in a quiet area ideal for a morning walk with your dogs, with a fenced off garden where you can sit enjoy the view and know your children or dogs are safe. The house itself is spotless, well equipped, comfortable and cosy. The kitchendining room is great for cooking and eating family meals together , the table can seat nine or ten, while you can talk to the rest of the family in the sitting room. The bathrooms were modern and good for a bath or shower. Bedrooms are spacious with very comfortable beds. For us it was set out perfect as a multiple family holiday with space for one family sleeping downstairs a spacious double up stairs and sitting room for grandchild when they were wanting space and a bedroom on the third floor all comfortable.
We had a lovely stay at Highcoft. It was a very clean and comfortable house to stay in and perfect for two families. Great location.
Louise
The house was so spacious and well equipped. Even with 10 adults staying we didnt get in each others way. The situation of the house was so tranquil and to be surrounded by different generations of deer together with the amazing views was just incredible. The beds and bedding were so comfortable and the pillows just hugged us back. We didnt want to leave!
Pauline
Absolutely amazing property, comfortable, yet luxurious lots of space and tastefully decorated. Deers in field beside house were a delight. We used as a base for our daughters wedding and it was the perfect choice for a family get together. Hosts really helpful nothing too much trouble.
Adrian
We had an amazing time in a gorgeous property. Such a beautiful place to stay and amazingly comfy beds and bedding. Would say that the cleaning of areas like kitchen ovenkitchen items and baby highchair could have been better. Some items were missinglight bulbs out when we arrived which would have been better if checked before we arrived but Jo was amazing in sorting for us v quickly. The kitchen table also needs reviewing as chairs are definitely too low for it and felt like a child sitting at the table. The larder also not the easiest layout as when dishwasher open impossible to put dishes etc away. If it was my house would have kitchen reshuffled and to make better use of the island but would not discourage another stay. Thanks for letting us stay we had a lovely break
