Matlock Views Reviews

Caroline
Great property ideally located. Clean and well presented. Perfect for exploring the Peak District.
Great stay , very clean and comfortable. The location was on a steep hill and would be difficult for some people but this didnt impact our stay. A short walk into Matlock, that has a good selection of bars, restaurants and shops. We would definitely recommend booking this property and look forward to returning.
Great place to stay. Exactly as advertised, very comfortable stay.
Rebecca
A lovely holiday home that is clean, well kept and stocked with all the stuff needed for a lovely holiday. A great location although our legs did feel the hill after a couple of days! We would definitely stay again!

We have stayed here twice now and have agreed this will be our go to for all future girls weekends going forward. The house is spotless, and has absolutely everything youll need for a lovely, relaxing stay. The hot tub was really clean and well maintained. The house is located at the top of a quite steep hill, but its a short walk into the town, which has some lovely independent shops as well as a coop etc. we visited Butterfingers cafe for an amazing lunch and cake. Definitely recommend.
Caroline
Great location. Perfect house for a week of walking. Everything we needed.
Heather
Lovely property in excellent location. Hot tub was a lovely treat and beds were very comfy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. One word of warning at this time of year, watch out for blackberries on the patio outside the back door as could easily be trodden on and walked into the house.
Excellent property. Surprisingly quiet location. Easy access walking to Matlock town centre albeit rather uphill on the way back. Very good pubs just up the road too. Very quick to get out into the countryside of the peaks. Very well presented house. Excellent kitchen and lounge and the party commented on the comfortable beds. Hot tub was brilliant, especially under the cover due to the English weather. Chlorine a bit strong though, Could do with another toilet as only one freely available as the other is in an ensuite and the car parking might need a couple of holes filled. But definitely would recommend
Alison
A beautiful house and a very comfortable stay. Spotless on arrival. The hot tub is a bonus and very welcome after some long walks. The only down side is the hill upto the house from town.
Jonathon
We had a lovely stay in this well thought out and highly maintained property and would recommend it to anyone. Hosts were very helpful too.
Suzanne
We had a lovely time in your house! We were delighted to find such a wellequipped kitchen which was very useful as we did quite a bit of cooking. Lovely location, easy parking, very comfortable. The hot tub as a hit too! My only wish is that there was a loo on each floor of the house.
Gillian
Lovely clean, welcoming home, in a great location. We couldn't have asked for more!
Property was very clean and comfortable and hot tub a special treat. A high chair and travel cot would have been a useful extra, to save us bringing our own.
Katharine
We enjoyed our stay in this lovely townhouse. It's a very well looked after property, hot tub was fab. Would definitely recommend staying here.
Lovely place to stay. Very convenient to Matlock. Hot tub was fab and well maintained. Nice temperature when we arrived.
Lovely home in a convenient location. Hot tub is a real bonus
Four generations, the oldest was ninety and the youngest was three, had a lovely two night stay here to celebrate a special birthday! When we arrived on a cold windy afternoon the house was very welcoming and lovely and warm. The kitchendiningliving area was ideal for us all to be together and upstairs the bedrooms were very comfortable. The garden is set out lovely with a hot tub and two tables and chairs for dining alfresco, weather permitting. Yes, the house is on a steep hill which we knew before we went but it didnt cause any problems as the two ninety year olds where driven when we went into the centre of Matlock and the rest of us walked. It takes under ten minutes! We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Matlock Views and wouldnt hesitate to stay there again.
Victoria
This is one of the best Sykes properties we have stayed in. It had everything we needed and more, it was spotlessly clean and comfortable, in a perfect location with great and patient owners thanks again for coming and putting the oven on for us, were still very ashamed of ourselves!! Definitely recommend.

The property is probably one of the best ones we've stayed in Location brilliant Comfort and cleanliness exceptional Hot tub added bonus Everything you needed to make it a home from home plenty of cutlery and crockery chopping boards saucepans everything you would need and more
The cotttage had not been cleaned properly, the cushions on the sofas had not been removed in a while as there was crumbs and dirt under them all, thick dust under the sofas and on windowsills and shelf on stairs. Several of our party hurt their feet on the stairs as the gripper rods are sticking through the carpet and very sharp. No high chair or cot for our baby, basic items which we would expect when hiring a cottage of this value.
Loved our stay here. The cottage is beautiful... deceptive from the outside as there is just a doorway and an alley... once inside it is fabulous. The hot tub was great, a wellstocked kitchen with utensils, etc. cellar for storing boots and had a spare fridgefreezer, comfortable beds, great views from the bedrooms, great location... highly recommended. Thank you.
Sharon
This was a great place to relax in after going around Heights of Abraham and the tram place. The hot tub was great. We found the 3 day parking was useful. We will come back and would recommend this place.
Really nice clean house, felt like a home from home. The property was visited half way through the stay to check the hot tub was still functioning properly, this was non invasive and was performed discreetly and professionally by the host. The property is equipped with plenty of kitchenware, which was really useful and beneficial. A selection of plastic wine glasses, champagne flutes and plastic cups were ideal for cocktail evenings in the Hot Tub Garden. The property contains a number of notes such as bin days and appliance instructions. I would of personally preferred if these were all in one place, as it became easy to ignore and not read them. The bed arrangement was not quite as listed, the property contained an ensuite double, single, twin and a double room this was actually preferred to the arrangement listed. That being said, I would definitely recommend this properly to any friends looking to visit the area, and would stay again.

Had a wonderful weekend with three work friends and the house had everything we needed and very comfortable . The hot tub was lovely in the evenings. the area around the house has walks , shops and places to visit. we will be back for another weekend next year .
The garden isn't really toddler friendly. Lots of levels and sharp edges, but with a bit of furniture moving most dangers overted. Hot tub very warm but we were lucky and had lovely warm and dry week. Bedrooms on 3rd floor very hot. Tumble dryer available however we had very nice dry weather and no washing line or airer, easily fixed with a ball of string and pegs. Excellent location but the hill getting back to the cottage is a challenge especially with two toddlers. Very comfortable and clean, would recommend but not with under 2 year olds.
Great base to explore the glories of the Peak District. ..& Matlocks hidden secrets
Lovely well maintained house. Very clean and the little tlw details like the shower gel and the biscuits make such a difference. We instantly felt relaxed. So much to do in the area we will need to go back. If only to spend more time in the hot tub! X
Loved the house, really clean and the addition of soaps, tea, coffee etc was really helpful. Hot tub is a great size. When we turned up, we felt that the car park could fit more than 2 cars on even though we had been told there was only room for 2. Not sure if theres a reason for this.

A lovely, well appointed cosy cottage. Amazing views and hot tub really makes the break. Many thanks!

Excellent property, very well equipped, very clean. Hot tub is very nice. Would return to this property and would highly recommend. Parking was a little difficult to find as no instructions, however parking is for two cars on the opposite side of the road. All in all excellent.
Lindsey
This cottage is clean, comfortable and well equipped. A lot bigger than expected and the hot tub is amazing. Good views and location. Owners also put up Christmas decorations upon our request which was much appreciated. We would love to return and highly recommend this property.

Home from home accommodation with beautiful views and private garden with hot tub. Lots of extras provided, wash powder, fabric conditioner, teacoffeesugar etc. Only a short walk from the many shops and restaurants. Would definitely book again.

Property was clean, well presented and in a good location. However our main reason for selecting this property was for the hot tub. The evening before arrival I received updated check in details advising that the hot tub wouldnt be available until 6pm on the first day. Although the children were disappointed we decided to explore Matlock and hit the tub when we got back. Unfortunately at 7.30pm the water was still very cool and so I contacted the owner who advised that Sykes are aware of the issue and we would just need to wait until it heated up but wouldnt take too long. By 9.30pm there was no improvement but the children braved it for 10mins. Unfortunately we were unable to use it until the following morning when the temperature was warm enough. We used it several times over the weekend but I found it disappointing that on a 3 night break it was only available for 2 of those nights. Had we known of this beforehand we would have booked an alternate property.

Wow! We have just returned from our weekend stay at Matlock views and it was excellent. There were 6 adults, 1 child and 3 babies in our party. The property was beautiful and felt very homely. The little extras such as washing up liquid, cooking oils, games, shower gels etc were a lovely touch and we all enjoyed the lovely biscuits that you left for us. The hot tub was the main reason we booked this property, it was very relaxing and we pretty much stayed in there most of the first night. The only thing I would say is it could have done with being a little hotter now the weather has got a bit colder. That said it certainly wouldn't stop us from staying here again and I will certainly be recommending to friends and family. All in all a fab time was had by all, many thanks.
Kirstin
Lovely house, well appointed, clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. We had an excellent holiday meeting up with another family with 4 young children between us. We took our own travel cot and high chair as these were not supplied. The children enjoyed lots of space to play and a big bath. The location is excellent for Matlock centre and only 10 mins walk to the train station a bit longer walking back up the steep hill! and closer for a very good park, several cafes and bars and the lovely micropub 'the news room' up the hill. We also enjoyed the hot tub! Only a few minor points which could be improved we would have liked a cafetiere although ample supply of instant coffee provided along with tea, a big box of biscuits, some oil, sauces and other bits and bobs of food which were very thoughtfully provided. Not an issue in October, but pale vertical blinds in the bedrooms would be insufficient in the summer on a previous holiday elsewhere with similar our children were awake from 4.30am! Some blackout blinds or curtains would be a valuable addition to this house. The parking area is badly potholed which may not be in the owner's control, but a simple warning to be aware to park very slowly and carefully would be helpful. These were all minor issues for us however and we would happily stay here again in the winter months.
