Stowe Cottage Reviews

Lucy
We really enjoyed our stay in this peaceful village - perfect for a quiet getaway. The hot tub was a highlight, such a treat after a day out. The bathroom had a lovely large showerand the bedroom was spacious with a super comfy bed. The stairs are quite steep and concrete, but we knew that beforehand. The kitchen had the essentials, though the living room could do with some new furniture and softer lighting to make it feel cozier. Some logs and clear fire instructions would be helpful too. Overall, a nice place!
James
We really enjoyed our weekend here! The cottage was cosy and just right for us. The scenery surrounding it is stunning. Only downsides were the oven, which was quite grubbyand the hot tub, which is visible from the main road. Still, overall, a lovely stay!
James
The sofa was really uncomfortable and the oven looked like it hadn’t been cleaned properly. Plus, the hot tub lid was a pain to get on and off. The staircase isn’t great for those with mobility issues either.
Alex
The cottage was really charming and cosy, perfect for a relaxing break. The hot tub was a real treat! Parking was a bit tricky, but the Nelson's Arms made up for it with their warm welcome, dogs and all. Would definitely recommend!
Emma
Great stay overall, lovely staff and cosy atmosphere. Just be cautious with stairs if you've got kids or a dogand the downstairs can feel quite dark.
Mark
We loved the location, perfect for exploring the Peaks. The bed was super comfy and the shower was great after a day out. But, we were disappointed that it’s not really dog friendly - no outside space and a walk needed for grass. Also, the busy road and no WiFi downstairs was a bit of a letdown.
Sam
Really enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere here. It’s a quick £15 taxi to Matlockand they even took the dog along-no parking hassle at all!
Emma Turner
We really enjoyed our stay at this charming cottage. The hot tub was a lovely bonus, making everything feel extra special. It was spotless, comfyand super cosy. We've already told our family and friends about it. Looking forward to returning in the summer to explore more of the beautiful walks nearby. Thanks so much!
Alex
The cottage was really cosyand the bed was super comfy. The hottub was a perfect way to unwind after a long day. Thanks so much!

We had a lovely stay at Stowe cottage! The peaceful vibe and cosy bed made for a really relaxing couple of nights. The hot tub was a great bonus. Local takeaway (Habibs) was super quick with delivery and the food was tasty. We met some friendly locals and enjoyed a few drinks at the village pub. The location’s perfect, just outside Wirksworth and Matlock Bath, making it easy to explore. Overall, a fantastic base for a quiet getaway. Definitely recommend!
Emma Carter
The cottage was beautifully kept and perfectly situated for exploring the Derbyshire Dales. We loved unwinding in the hot tub after long walks. The super king bed was super comfyand the spacious bedroom with its chandelier added a nice touch. Highly recommend!
Jessie
We really enjoyed our stay! The hot tub was fantastic and definitely the highlight. We felt private even though it’s at the front, which was a bonus. The bedroom was stunning and the bed was by far the comfiest we’ve slept in. The bathroom was lovely too. Could’ve used a coffee table or footstool in the evenings, but overall, it was a perfect getaway. Cheers, Dan!
Emma
Lovely cottage, beautifully renovated, perfect for couples or solo travellersand very dog-friendly too. Highly recommended!
Alex Harper
Honestly, we were pretty disappointed with the hot tub situation. It was freezing when we arrived, so we couldn’t use it that first day, which was a real letdown since we paid for the full weekend. We only managed to enjoy it twice in the evenings. Tried to sort it out with the owner and the holiday company, but basically, we were told there’s nothing they can do. We even asked for a one-night refund, but that was refused. Wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it to friends. Book at your own risk!
Emma
The cottage was stunning, spotless and had everything we needed. The bed was incredibly comfy, honestly one of the best nights’ sleep ever! The hot tub was a real treatand the village is so peaceful with a lovely pub, The Rising Sun, serving great food. We’ll definitely return!
Mark
Cozy place in a charming Derbyshire village, loved it!
Emma
We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage! It was spotless and felt super cosy, especially with the Christmas touches like the tree in the bedroom-such a nice detail. The location was peaceful, with the garden at the front and the hot tub hidden away from the quiet road, so no worries about noise. Perfect for a short getaway. We took our two dogs, who slept in crates, which was fine but did take up a bit of room. Overall, a lovely place to relaxand we’d definitely come back!
Emma
Had a great weekend, snow and all! Perfect spot for a couple, really lovely location, would definitely recommend it.
Emily
While the cottage is really cosy and charming, the location leaves a lot to be desired. No parking available and it's right on a busy road, so you can hear cars rushing past all the time. Not quite the peaceful retreat we wanted. Plus, neighbours are pretty closeand the hot tub area isn’t very private with just a small fence and gate. We stayed for 3 nights but decided to leave after 2.
Emma
We really enjoyed our stay! The cottage was charmingand the location was perfect for exploring. The garden looked lovely and private in the photos, but the low wrought iron gate made it feel a bit exposed, which was a shame. Also, we felt a bit uneasy letting our dogs out alone since the gate’s easy to open if they get excited. Still, a lovely place overall!
