The Stables were just perfect for our Christmas stay with our two teenage daughters and our two dogs. The owners left nothing to chance and our first experience of what was a truly quality luxury rural retreat will not be our last; we will be returning.
Helen
The Stables is a lovely barn conversion, really comfortable and clean. The owner left a hamper with tea, coffee and breakfast things, plus a bottle of wine which was really thoughtful. The garden is shared with another cottage but is laid out so we never felt overlooked when sitting out on the patio or in the hot tub. The games room is great for olRead moreder children and gym is small but well thought out. Hovingham bakery is worth a visit and The Grapes in Slingsby does amazing pizzas! Hide

Great location for visiting places not too far away. Felt immersed in the countryside with cowslips and birds aplenty. Short flat walks around and about for those who don't do big ones. Enjoyed watching the Red squirrels at the Arboretum just a few miles away. Travelled home with gaps filled with plants from the garden centre there and the Helmsley walled garden but pop up plant sales around too. Ate well in Hovingham at the hotel, carpeted to help those hard of hearing!
Jennifer
Great place to spend a special special birthday. Accommodation has everything you could possibly need and is well maintained and clean. Enjoyed by all the family of different ages. Great location for some lovely walks.

We had a wonderful stay in The Stables as Two couples with 2 dogs. It was just perfect in terms of the quality of accommodation, the facilities and location to explore the stunning surroundings of North Yorkshire. We visited many places including Helmsley, Hutton Le Hole, Castle Howard, Sandsend, Robin Hood Bay, Filey and the Arboretum nearby. We w ill be returning.
David
just perfect
Ian
The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped and the additional facilities of the games room, gym, sauna and hot tub are fantastic. The outside private space is a little limited and whilst the communal garden is nice and the screening helps break up and separate the two properties, it doesn't provide a lot of privacy. The location is quiet and in close proximity to two lovely villages on either side.
Louise
The Stables barn is really thoughtfully done, very well equipped, even dressing gowns & Molton Brown in the bathrooms. A welcome basket of goodies on the table and wine in the fridge, certainly made us feel welcome to North Yorkshire. The area is lovely, plenty to explore, Malton the foodie town isnt far, and Castle Howard is only 4 miles away. Def initely would recommend.
Stephen
Gorgeous barn conversion in a great location. The photos on the website dont really do it justice. The outside space is very thoughtfully planned out. You share the outside area with another barn but each has their own screened area for privacy, especially around the hot tubs. The gym, sauna and games barn are also a shared facility but are a great addition. Great walks from your doorstep especially to the pub in the neighbouring village which is a short walk across the fields.
Sue
The cottage was lovely. Well-equipped and perfect for a chilled long weekend. Beds very comfortable. Had a fabulous weekend!
Poppy
The Stables was a fantastic property with a central location close to amenities and activities. The property was clean and a welcome pack even provided with fresh bread, milk, tea, coffee etc I feel that the pictures of the property do not do it justice and it is far more idyllic in person. I would 100% recommend a stay here.
Chris
Brilliant location for those who want to walk or visit N. Yorks landmarks. For those with dogs really really really spot on. Every effort made with outside washing facilities and stone floors which are easy to keep clean, we had a Lab and a Cockerpoo and visited during the storm week it went well and easy, when they say dog friendly they mean it. T op class amenities in the accommodation and the hot tub is seriously good, wow. Genuinely top accommodating and every effort made will visit again.
Michelle
We had the most perfect weekend here !! The cottage we stayed in was absolutely beautiful , very cosy and so clean ! We couldnt have picked any fault if we tried ! We will definitely be booking to stay here again !
Michelle
Great location, fantastic walks and a beautiful cottage to relax in. Everything you could ask for the pefect holiday.
David
We had a lovely stay in September 2021. Cottage was very clean, warm and very well equipped. Hot tub secluded enough to totally relax. Used the gym and sauna as well as games room. Located in the heart of Yorkshire with many attractions including Filey, Whitby, York, Helmsley and Castle Howard all within a 45 min drive. Lots of local restaurants ne arby, some within walking distance. Ideal for those who are looking for an accessible property. Welcome hamper was a surprise too. 5's all round
