Surf Song Reviews

Anastasija
We really enjoyed our stay at Surf Song. The apartment was perfect in every way. One of the best places weve stayed on our holidays a true home from home and we felt very welcome there. The site was quite, with good level of daily activities and very friendly staff. We only missed the pedestrian access to Penzance itself, which would have made 100 for us.
The property has excellent in house amenities and is very well appointed. Its situation being a five minute drive to Penzance main car parks and even less to Tesco makes it a very well positioned. No fault of the owner was the very poor provision of facilities at the Kenegie holiday park. No meals on offer, swimming pool never open. We didn't need them but others with children may have been disappointed. A very small point was the relatively small storage space for clothes in the number two bedroom. We are an adult couple and needed more space. Two children would have been fine. In truth a fabulous week
Lovely apartment airey, plenty of light peaceful ,all facilities you could ask for all though could not use toaster as it would. Set alarm off and scare the dog. Maybe too many stairs, alright for able bodied but not for older folk should have been pointed out ot booking.we struggled through and neighbours who were on a long term let kept banging doors early in the morning .Will not return.
This property provided everything we needed , we cant fault anything . You do need to be able bodied for the first floor apartment . The surrounding area was lovely , gardens etc , quiet , peaceful and attracted wild life . There was a folder with information about appliances etc in the apartment and housekeepers numbers , to contact , if a problem should arise .Thank you for letting us stay, we had a lovely time in Cornwall and our elderly dog accompanied us .

Had a fantastic stay, it was my birthday holiday, the extra touch for our 2 dogs BRANSTON and BETTY one bed in lounge and one in the bedroom due to how big the beds were ours sleep in one bed snuggled up! The only downside not owners fault was the facilities the swimming pool was closed Monday and Wednesday , and eatery was closed. But due to location we traveled for some supplies and eating out. All in all we had a very comfortable stay lovely large apartment for two adults our friends couldnt come due to illness. Impressive well equipped kitchen, and lounge. Would stay again. couldnt find a pen to write in the visitors book . I normally have at least 2 pens well done we would recommend a stay to family and friends

Loved our stay here plenty of room and grounds were great for dog walking. 5 minutes from everything

Had the best time despite of awful weather, location of the apartment was ideal for all the sightseeing and it had everything we needed. The welcome biscuits were a massive hit and we stocked up on them on the way home
Benjamin
Really lovely property with everything we needed for a great stay in Cornwall. We had everything we needed, and the place was very clean and tidy, with very comfy beds and thoughtful touches throughout.
Carole
Lovely warm & welcoming apartment. We enjoyed a great week with everything we needed for comfort. Would highly recommend.
Absolutely fantastic place to stay. Had everything we needed and more . The apartment was very clean and beds very comfortable. Everything needed was there even dog beds and dog bowls that we never expected. Most definitely will come back and stay in your apartment again. Thankyou very much.
This is by far one of my favourite places that I've stayed in. It was clean, tidy and modern, very well presented. The apartment is part of a manor that has been divided into holiday apartments. On site there is a pub, mini convenience shop and indoor heated swimming pool with sauna and hot tub heads up you have to book before going in. The staff on site are super lovely and friendly. You're a 7min drive from a morrisons, sainsburys and the town. If I had to complain it would be that it's bright in the bedrooms in the morning and that the Check out is 9 in the morning, considering check in was 5 in the afternoon.
Natasha
We had a fantastic time. The dogs felt at home, everything was in such a great working order, the apartment wasnt too far from all the beaches and the people on site were lovely. Only downsides were having to book a slot for the swimming pool so I never got to go and missing out on the dinner in the on site pub as they kept closing early, but that isnt down to the property itself. The people that owned it were very good at replying to emails and the cleaners were so lovely. Would definitely go again!

Surf Song is an extremely spacious modern apartment inside a converted Manor House that dates back almost 400 years. Tastefully decorated and furnished to a high specification, with a kitchen that was fully equipped with everything we needed, including a microwave, washing machine and dishwasher. The other rooms in the apartment are of the same standard. The beds were very comfortable, we all felt well rested each morning. Communication was exceptional between us the owner and the managing agents of the property. We stayed here during a violent storm, the owner was in regular contact with us, and could not have done enough for us. Would highly recommend Surf Song
We are appalled by the lack of response and the extreme difficulty of contacting Sykes during our stay. We had three serious and one very serious problem with the apartment during our stay. 1 No hot water when we arrived. 2 No instruction or idea on how to deactivate the burglar alarm, inadvertently triggered whilst searching for means of turning on the hot water. 3 A very serious leak in the roof during a rain storm, where the water was pouring through the electric light fitting in the entrance hallway and above the second bedroom doorway. 4 Despite turning off the storage heaters, they remained on and very hot during our entire stay. This meant that we had to keep the windows open the entire week as a means of keeping the temperature to a tolerable level. This also led to us leaving the apartment a day early due to the discomfort. We travelled home on the 8th October, not the 9th. I attempted to contact Sykes for all of these issues above and on many occasions. The phone lines were either completely dead, or when it would connect, rang for at least 1520 minutes each time before cutting off. On the first of two occasions when someone finally did answer, a message was taken and the owner himself phoned me back from Bermuda! 5 hours after the first incident. With the code he gave me, I was able to deactivate the burglar alarm. He told me he would send someone to sort the hot water for us, but noone arrived. We therefore had to switch on the full rate switch next to the hot water tank, which seemed to eventually provide us with hot water. This would not turn off again! I could only finally get hold of someone for the leak incident on the afternoon of the following day. I called first thing in the morning, but was cut off. Following the online instructions, I had raised a chat incident immediately the leak occurred, but apart from an automated confirmation of receipt, I never received any response from this. The person I spoke to in the afternoon said he would speak to his manager, but again, I never heard anything else until the cleaner called me on the Wednesday. I was surprised at this, as I assumed the issues we were having were house maintenance, not cleaning problems. It remained though that none of the issues were resolved during our stay. There are electrical problems with the property, and there is a serious leak in the roof. This is the first time that we have experienced not only so many problems, but such difficulty in contacting anyone for help. The apartment itself is really lovely, but our holiday was spoilt by the time we spent trying to get things sorted that should not have been our problem, and the fact that we felt frustrated and ignored. I'm afraid we are very unimpressed, especially considering the severity and potential lifethreatening nature of the leak. Had we been out and attempted to either activate the light switch for the light fitting through which the water was pouring through, or slipped in the dark in the water covering the floor, things would have been very serious indeed!
We were unable to take up the holiday accommodation due to the recent petrol crisis and the distance we had to travel and might potentially run out of petrol. We were also concerned that we would be stranded in Cornwall with no means to return home if the national petrol crisis was not resolved. I notified Sykes contact centres and spoke to two contact centre agents that provided no resolution but we were told that there was nothing they could do and that it was my problem. Sykes Cottages didn't even offer a compromise. We feel cheated, and will never use your organisation again.

We had no onsuite never got fixed Facilites were off Sauna, hot tub and changing facilities. Bar, cafe and pool were shut every wednesday, we had my sister with us who is really ill was depending on using hot tubsauna so she did not have to walk far but this was not possible and no communication from Sykes or person that owns place we stayed in. Going through hell to try and get this resolved. We as a family would never reccomend or use sykes ever again.
Andrew
Really nice apartment very well furnished and clean Lots of space, and the Sky sports TV was a lovely surprise . Finding the WiFi code was a challenge so would ask that the owner references this in the user guide. For anyone reading this, I found it by locating the router back of the Tv
Victoria
Surf Song Apartment was lovely, clean and comfortable. All the Kenegie staff were lovely and helpful with local knowledge of activities etc however the Kenegie Manor complex did not meet our expectations. The bins were overflowing and the septic tank was leaking across the car park which smelt terrible.
Really loved the apartment, plenty of space for a family of four. Very clean and well equipped too. Loved the holiday park too, great to have activities for children to do at the end of a day out. Very friendly and helpful staff too.
Well equipped. pictures were accurate and true they usually make the place look betterone of the nicest accommodation I've been
Nice big apartment. Enough facilities onsite for your essentials and close to other facilities for everything else.
Very nice apartment. Only gripe I have would be that the heating in the master bedroom did not work, not ideal in the winter. One other issue is the kitchen mixer tap if turned on,and you move the adjustable nozzle, it will spray water from a defective joint all over you.
Christine
No phone reception in apartment. Paid for wifi but did not work on any device so had to get a refund. Then we found a manual that had the sky wifi password so all good. Manual should be left out on the coffee table or in the kitchen. It was upside down on a bookshelf at the back of the room & we only came upon it by chance. Hot water only lasted 2 showers not good when apartment sleeps 4. Manual referred to a remote to switch on constant but we couldn't find it so we had to pull a bed out to access boiler in a cupboard in 2nd bedroom to switch it on. Overall the apartment was exceptionally clean with great facilities & a comfortable home from home. Just a couple of little niggles but ok once we'd sorted them out.
Jennifer
Spent a week in Surf Song towards the end of October 2019. The weather was not the best but its a love part of Cornwall so we still got out and about. The apartment was wonderful. Warm, comfortable with all anyone could need for a home from home. Owner and house keeper very helpful and friendly. The adjoining park reception staff we also very helpful and friendly as were the staff in the pub onsite. Would definitely recommend this apartment 100. If you do have dogs with you there are some fabulous walks and dog friendly placespubs to visit around and about the area.
Lovely apartment and communal grounds, dog friendly and situated in a beautiful area.
