Somewhere Reviews

James
We really enjoyed staying here, the hot tub was perfect after long walks around Coniston. The place has so much charm, but it could do with a bit of TLC. We’d definitely return though, the area’s stunning with lovely pubs and great food nearby. Can’t wait to come back and relax again! xx
James
The cottage looks lovely with charming decor and quality fittings, plus a fantastic location and a relaxing hot tub.
Mark
The cottage was lovely, really well set up and perfect for relaxing after our mountain hikes. We loved the hot tub! It’s within walking distance to Coniston, which was handy. Only thing was, we didn’t get the stunning water views we’d hoped for and it felt a bit exposed.
Emma
Honestly, we felt the cottage was a bit pricey for what it offered. The photos are misleading since a large conifer blocks the view of the mountains, which was disappointing. Inside, there’s hardly any storageand there aren’t any games or local info available. On the plus side, it’s in a great spot for exploring Coniston and the Lake District. Still, we expected more.
Emma
We had an amazing stay at Somewhere Cottage last bank holiday! The location was easy to find, thanks to clear directions from the ownerand the cottage itself was spotless and cosy. We loved the little welcome gift and the fully equipped kitchen made cooking a breeze. After a day of hiking nearby mountains, unwinding in the hot tub was just perfect. The place really felt like a home away from homeand we’d definitely return. Thanks for a lovely weekend!
Emma
Loved this cottage! The location is perfect, just a short stroll into the village. It’s super peaceful and quiet, ideal for a relaxing break. The place is well-equipped and comfyand the hot tub was a real treat after long days exploring. Definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a getaway!
Oliver
Overall, our stay was pretty good, though we did notice a few things. The wardrobe could definitely do with some drawers inside-more storage would’ve been handy. The shower pressure was a bit underwhelming, so no proper power shower in the mornings. That said, it didn’t ruin our trip. We loved the hot tub, especially when the weather was clear. The booking fee of £58 felt a bit steep, especially with all the automated emails-it seemed a bit impersonal, honestly. Still, we had a nice time!
Emily
The location is so peaceful, overlooking the old man of coniston, really beautiful views. The hottub was a lovely bonus after a day out. The bed was super comfyand the kitchen/dining area felt quite cosy for relaxing. However, the bedroom could do with more storage-only 7 hangers in the wardrobe! We also found the sofa a bit uncomfortable. Still, these are just our personal thoughts; others seem very happy here. The bathroom was a good sizeand we'd definitely come back again!
Emma
Not enough space or storage options.
Emma
The cottage was lovely and peaceful, perfect location. The hot tub was spotless and definitely a highlight of our stay. No complaints at all!
Emma
We had such a lovely stay! The cottage was super cosy, really cleanand the location is perfect for walks nearby. The hot tub was a real treat after a day in the hillsand the underfloor heating made coming in from the cold drizzle so comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed for cosy evenings cooking in. We’d definitely come back!
Emma
Loved the cosy vibe, the location was spot onand everything was spotless. We enjoyed peaceful walks, relaxing in the hot tuband chilly nights by the log burner.
James
The place was super cosy, but it wasn’t decorated for Christmas.
Alex
We really enjoyed our stay! The place was spotless and had everything we needed. The hot tub and log fire were fantasticand there’s plenty to see nearby. Would definitely come back!
Sam
We’ve stayed here twice now, the last time being quite a few years ago. The place is super cosy and perfectly placed for exploring Coniston fells and Grizedale. The hot tub is a real treat after a long walk. Definitely recommend!
Emma
We loved staying at Somewhere! The cottage is beautifully decorated and super comfy. It’s a bit remote, but that’s part of the charm - perfect for escaping everything. The walk into Coniston is lovelyand the views are truly breathtaking. Highly recommend for a peaceful getaway!
Emma
The scenery was breathtaking and the cottage itself was gorgeous both inside and out. Such a peaceful spot, we could’ve easily stayed a month!
Alex
Honestly, this place was fantastic. The location couldn’t be better, just a short walk to Lake Coniston where we spent ages paddle boarding. Climbing up to Old Man Coniston was a real highlight, the views were absolutely stunning. We also enjoyed a fun pub crawl around the charming village. The hot tub was perfect for unwinding after a day outand relaxing by the log burner with a glass of red was just ace. We’d definitely return and recommend it to anyone!
Emma
This is a truly glorious property in an excellent location. We had everything we needed for a very comfortable, well-equipped stay. The hot tub and private garden were much appreciated because of the lovely weather we enjoyed. There are walks right from the door and the town centre is just an easy 1.5 miles walk away. There are good pubs, fine food at Swallows & Amazons restaurant, which is a 5-minute walk away on the footpath opposite the entrance, plus tea shops, art galleriesand museums all easily accessible by car or the 505 bus. A marvellous way to spend a week!
Emily
From 3rd to 10th June, we had a fantastic week at Somewhere! We enjoyed the hot tub every day after some brilliant hikes. The weather was really good and dry. We even squeezed in a couple of swims in our wetsuits in Coniston Water, which is super close by, plus it’s easy to walk into town. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking on our 5-mile walk from the cottage up to Grizedale Forest and back down to Brantwood House, with two lovely tea rooms along the way! We’d definitely stay again, it’s so peaceful. Just a heads up, bring your own salt, pepper, oils, tea, coffee, sugarand all that, because there’s nothing provided. Good pub grub in the town too!

Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 12 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 14 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 16 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.

During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD

We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
