Lake Windermere offers water sports and cultural history, with links to Beatrix Potter, William Wordsworth, John Ruskin and the Arts & Crafts movement associated with William Morris. Whether soaking up the UNESCO World Heritage landscape or enjoying family friendly attractions like Fell Foot Park, (4 miles), this is the perfect base for a scenic group getaway.
The beautifully furnished cottage is perched high on a hillside and inspired by William Morris designs for an outstanding, colourful appearance. You ll enter via the upper ground floor into a charming country kitchen, complete with a dining table for tucking into hearty meals together.
Here you can enjoy panoramic Fell views framed by the kitchen windows and enjoy watching Herdwick sheep graze by the garden fence. It is such a joy to observe the new born lambs gambolling alongside their mothers!
Adjacent to the kitchen is a welcoming lounge with a warming wood burner, Smart TV and French doors opening out to a south and west facing balcony overlooking the picturesque gardens, village and hills! Two of the five sumptuous bedrooms are also on this floor, including a super king size room with Smart TV and access to the balcony.
This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals. Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area. Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos. At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed. Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.
