Jonathon and Clair really made our stay enjoyable, welcoming us right away with snacks and a bottle of Prosecco. They offered great local tips throughout the week, which was lovely. The house’s location was spot on - close to a pub and easy walks for the dog around the lanes. Perfect base to explore Yorkshire. We’re already considering a return trip in May because we loved it so much!

We had a lovely time at this cottage in such a beautiful spot. The owners were friendly and checked in to see if everything was alright, which was a nice touch. The hot tub was perfect for unwinding after a day exploringand the wood burner added to the cosy vibe. Both bedrooms were spacious, especially the main one with a super comfy bed. Overall, a brilliant place for a relaxing break in the Yorkshire moors. We’re already planning to return next year!
Emma
We had a lovely stay of five nights in this charming cottage with our kids, aged 13 and 9, plus our dog. As someone quite picky about cleanliness, I felt really comfortable here. Honestly, it was perfect-wouldn’t change a thing. Thanks a lot!

We had an amazing stay at Hare House! The location is perfect for exploring the area - so much to see and do. Jonathan was really helpful and friendly, giving us great tips like the local riding stables, which led to a fantastic trek with Sheila at Boltby. The cottage itself is spotlessly clean and well-equipped; the sofas and beds were super comfy after long days out. The log burner and hot tub were just what we needed to unwind. We’d definitely love to return and recommend it to anyone looking for a cosy getaway. Thanks so much for sharing it with us!
Susan
What a lovely stay we had in this good place! We've already recommended it to lots of our dog-owning friends who are always searching for nice places like this where they can bring their fur babbies.
James
What a fantastic cottage! We loved the lovely quiet and peaceful location. Honestly, we couldn’t think of any negatives about the place. It was just as described, so much characterand we would definitely visit again. There’s loads to do in the surrounding area too. A real credit to the owners!
Tom
We found this cottage to be super comfy and well sized, easily fitting the two of us and our dog. Honestly, it could have comfortably accommodated four adults too! The location is quiet, with local shops just a short drive away. The hot tub is a lovely touch for some relaxation after a day of walking. And the beds are extremely comfy, which, coming from my partner, is a real compliment!
Simon
We’ve just come back from a fantastic week at Hare House. The property is presented to a very high standard, it’s super clean, comfortableand well equipped. Nestled at the foot of the Cleveland Hills and surrounded by farmland, the location is just idyllic. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet, which adds to the relaxed atmosphere. The beds and pillows are so comforta ble that everyone in our group slept like logs - probably thanks to the regular visits to the outside hot tub, which was lovely and warm and very relaxing!
Claire
We would definitely recommend the cottage and are looking forward to visiting again soon! It’s such a lovely area with spectacular scenery. The cottage itself is lovely and has everything you could need. The hot tub is fantastic tooand it was great to see the animals and the wildlife. Absolutely perfect for a peaceful break.
Sophie
The cottage was lovely, but with a few finishing touches could be amazing! There was no welcome pack and no kindling or logs for the log burner. There were a couple of little things that need sorting, like the shower screen shield and bathroom blind. The bed was one of the most comfortable we've slept in while away. It was great to have the hot tub too.
Simon Clarke
This place is really peaceful and comfortable, plus it’s not too far from some lovely scenic drives to nearby towns and villages. The cottage is high speck and has everything you need, even board games and wifi which is a bonus. We loved the traditional log burner that heats the room so nicelyand they even provided kindling logs for our first night! The hot tub is pristine and private, set against a backdrop of lovely flora and landscapes. The owners are super friendly too.
Tom

Sophie

Clara

Big Sheep - EX39 5AP

This is a recommended day out for families with young children visiting the Bedale area of Yorkshire.  Visit the farm and receive a warm welcome as well as a guided tour.  You will have the chance to bottle feed the lambs, bath a pig and handle some of the smaller animals.  Kids will love the big sandpit and the outdoor play area. There is also a cafe and indoor play area for when the weather is not on your side.
Flamingo Land - YO60 7EW
about 22 Miles
Situated in Malton in North Yorkshire this has to be one of our favourite family days out.  It's a theme park and zoo all in one stretching over a massive 400 acres. With thrilling rides for the very daring like Cliff Hanger, Corkscrew and Kumali, there are also more gentle rides for the little ones such as Frog Hopper and Helitoys.  Family fun attractions include the 4D cinema, the lost river ride and the Little Monsters Den of Mischief. Check out their website for seasonal events which take place throughout the year and you can also gain more information about the zoo.  Flamingo Land is a resort as well as a theme park so you can also book accommodation there.
Yorkshire Lavender - YO60 6PB

Yorkshire Lavender is an amazing award winning attraction offering breathtaking panoramic views of York, a Café, Plant Nursery and Lavender Gardens. The 60 acre site is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty and is an excellent choice for a day trip. The onsite shops sells Lavender products such as bath and body treats, skincare, medicine and herbal remedies.
Lightwater Valley - HG4 3HT

Situated in the Ripon area of North Yorkshire this popular theme park makes a fantastic day out for the whole family.  The more daring will love the big and thrilling rides such as Raptor Attack, The Ultimate and Trauma Tower.  For the little ones there are some excellent attractions such as Flying Camels, Dodgems and a Magic Wheel.  Toddlers will like the Dragon Boats and the Lightwater Express amongst other things. There are over 40 rides and attractions in total and we think this is excellent value for money too.  If you book your tickets in advance online you can save even more money and beat the queues.
Castle Howard - YO60 7DA

Castle Howard is one of the regions most beautiful and historic landmarks and is located in 1,000 acres of parkland with breathtaking gardens to explore. As well as exploring the castle visitors can enjoy attractios including the unique Land Train - the best way to see the entire park. There is also a large lake offering boat trips during the summer months. In high season the site is very popular with families and offers organised activities for children including tours, talks, crafting and animal encounters. The site also has a Nature Trail which is fun for the whole family and an Adventure Playground where children can run off some energy.
Fountains Abbey - HG4 3DY

This is an outstanding world heritage site located close to Ripon in the North Yorkshire area. Nature lovers will be in their element with an abundance of wide open spaces to explore and there are special guided tours for families.  Some of the highlights may include seeing wild deer and bats during your visit.  The grounds are fantastic to wander round but there is also an Elizabethan Mansion, Victorian Church, Georgian Water Garden and the finest example of Cistercian Abbey ruins in the country - Well worth a visit!
The Grainary Wildlife Farm - YO25 3HS

Located in Harwood Dale Village, North Yorkshire we think this attraction makes a superb family day out and couples will also enjoy the nature walks in the area.  There are 6 nature walks in total surrounding the farm so walkers and lovers of the outdoors will be in their element. Some of our favourite walks include the Spring Flowers, Pond and Village walk which takes around 35 minutes, and the Meadow and Trees walk which takes one hour.
