Fantastic stay lovely property nice and peaceful but in a ideal location to ... Fantastic stay lovely property nice and peaceful but in a ideal location to visit tourist attractions definitely will visit again
Joanne
The lodge was superb very luxurious, we had a very relaxing time enjoying the lake and wildlife and the Hot Tub was lush perfect to end the evening with a glass of wine. Definitely will be booking again soon.
Lovely lodge with all the amenities you need. The hot tub was great and we were thankful for the cover which allowed us to use it despite the rather soggy weather! The staff at Charteroak were lovely, with the odd phone callemail to check in that everything was okay. The view of the lake is beautiful and the decking is new, so no issues as reported in previous reviews. Overall, a very relaxing stay and I look forward to returning in the future.
Lovely property, but could do with some maintenance. The decking is rotting and felt unsafe in places. Some mould on the blinds in the bathrooms and some of the walls a bit mouldy. Some non slip door mats would really help to be able to keep the property clean while staying.
We really enjoyed our stay at this lodge. Would highly recommend it. Property is very clean, the only downside the decking is rotten and broken in places which could be dangerous. The staff are very helpful, especially Sally. All in all had a fabulous holiday.
Sharon
We had a fabulous week next to the lake, the lodge was as expected, hot tub perfect. The staff were very helpful and friendly with a perfect balance between leaving you to relax and enjoy the complete peacefulness of the area and being available if you needed them. My only suggestion would be a new mattress, it really does need it. That said, was still an amazing week, thank you.
We have stayed at a number of Lodges in Stone rush, and it's pure beauty. There are so many things I could write that I would run out of time. The place is under new management since last Oct,and our making alot of changes to stonerush, and by the sounds of it all good.On arrivel we met a lovely Lady called Sally,we noticed a big change at the reception, and kindly Sally was more than happy to show us around, wow we were stunned with how different it was and looked stunning.Sometimes I do read reviews and some do upset me I've stayed here a lot and we go in different lodges, and yes there maybe little problems but if you contact reception they our more than happy to sort the problem asp, what more can they do.last week we were at waters edge,we had two Canadian geese.ducks and hundreds of carp and more the cabin was perfect inside and out ,we had our meals outside most days and had loads of time spent in the hot tub.We have booked for this Oct for a week and we our thinking of booking for July.I suffer mentle health and I feel that this place is my second home it's like a heaven to me,my safe place.my mattress was new,I wanted to take home but they wouldn't let me.Sally you were my number one you were so lovely to us and kind nothing was to much trouble and you always had a smile on your face you clearly love working there,if I was your boss I would be giving you a pay rise for shore.Stonerush Sally is gold to you, don't ever let her go.Anyway Sally see you all very soon.
We was here for our honeymoon, and the lodge was unsanitary and and unsafe! Mould, Algae, rotten flooring outside on the decking. Very unhappy customer I must say!
This is our second stay at Stonerush Lakes and we are looking forward to planning a return. This setting is fantastic quiet and relaxing with plenty of wildlife surrounding you. 1 Waters Edge was in a fantastic location overlooking one of the lakes with plenty of ducks, geese and fish swimming beneath the large terrace and owls in the surrounding trees. This location is perhaps more overlooked than the other lodges as its just a stones throw from the restaurant and bar but it didnt feel like a lack of privacy as so quiet and no lodges ahead of you. The hot tub overlooking the lake was ideal to take in the surroundings with bathroom access directly to the tub. The overhead canopy was also ideal for the April showers we encountered. The decking area could have done with some minor work to update some planks need replacing and the hot tub cover definitely needs an update. The rest of the lodge was clean, comfortable and well equipped. We look forward to booking again and would highly recommend to others.
Alison
Staff in the barnrestaurant were really attentive having arrived early and needed to go onto a very important teams meeting they accommodated me even though they werent actually open. This is our third visit in 3 different lodges and each time we have been really impressed. Lodge 1 water edge was really clean and had all facilities and more. Stunning waking up to the lakefish in the morning with the patio doors thrown open. Hot tub had a roof over it, much needed for the couple of days rain we had. The only small niggle is the pillows in the bedroom are not the most comfortable ones, however this is my husband who is so fussy I told him he should have brought his pillow from home. Thank you for a wonderful stay from Ally, Andy & Boo our much loved cavapoo.
Darren
This wasn't the 1st time I've stayed down at stonerush lakes nd won't be the last but I was extremely let down at 1 Waters Edge though, because the hot tub stopped working on the Saturday afternoon and it wasn't until the Sunday someone from maintenance came to try and sort the problem and once the issue had been resolved the temperature of the hot tub was cold and never got back up to the correct heat until the Monday morning when I had to leave. The hot tub is one of the main attractions for these weekends away and to be without it most of the Saturday, all day Sunday was very disappointing to say the least and if honest didn't make it feel like I got my value for my money during this stay due to not being able to fully use the facilities on offer
We had a lovely stay here. The lodge was very comfortable and in a beautiful setting. It overlooked the Lake which was perfect. We saw plenty of wildlife and enjoyed feeding the fish. The worktop in the kitchen surrounding the sink needs some attention but thats just a minor detail! We will definitely be returning in the near future.
Bernard
Our second visit to 1 water's edge and probably not the last. The property is very comfortable and well presented. With mostly dry and sunny days we enjoyed several meals on the verandah overlooking the lake with plenty of wildlife to watch. Such a great base for visiting the Cornish countryside.
There were some minor deficiencies in the cleaning. The windows were not cleaned and when the sun shone through, looked awful. The Venetian blinds in the small bedroom were dusty with cobwebs visible. These points should have been picked up by the staff dealing with cleaning. We paid nearly 900 for the week and the welcome pack included 2 dishwasher tablets, come on, an extra 5 tablets would certainly not break the bank! A tea pot would also have been welcomed. Apart from these few points, we had a wonderful experience, the position was lovely and tranquil overlooking the lake and we enjoyed feeding the fish every day!
Had a lovely long weekend away! We have stayed at Stonerush Lakes a few times now in different lodges each time, so very familiar with the set up. This lodge is perfectly located over the lake with lovely views and very private. Especially like the fact the hot tub has a roof over it so it can be enjoyed in all weathers. I feel a bit of tender loving care is needed with this lodge as the counter round the sink has begun to rot with water damage, as well as mould on the bathroom walls, especially under the towel rail. Some of the decking has also begun to rot, even though I appreciate this will happen over time as all made from wood, I think its something that needs to be looked into as just makes it look a little run down. Otherwise overall another fantastic break away which we thoroughly enjoyed!
Claire
The lodge is in a beautiful setting,so relaxing, just what we needed, also very clean and with all we needed, the hot tub an added bonus. The lodge is situated very close to the restaurant which was handy as i cant walk too far.We only used the resaurant once as we weren't very impressed with the food quality and high prices. The only thing id change with the lodge is maybe a better mattress as i found it not the most comfy but that maybe is just my preference and also please suppy a clothes airer, there's a washing machine but nowhere to dry anything if you use it
Amanda
Lovely cottage in a great location, unfortunately the bed wasnt comfortable for me but my husband had not issues with it? No clothes airer which made it difficult to dry any wet clothes as didnt want to use a tumble dryer in the summer.
Jackie
The setting and the lodge was perfect. We stayed at 1 Waters edge. The lodge was spacious, with comfy sofas, nice size veranda with table n chairs and a lovely hottub. Shower was nice size.Plenty of hangers and ample wardrobe space. The bed was ok but not that comfy for us and Bedding and towels were lovely and clean and crisp. The oven was good with plenty of utensils etc to sort a fry up out . The only downside was that it could have had a better clean as was bit dusty and toddlers prints on Windows that were smeared..We only had a dog and it lacked lil things like books, games, dvds, etc but that may be a pandemic precaution. That being said I would stay at this lodge again. It was lovely. One of the best we've stayed at and we try to go a few times a year
Beautiful lodge in a fantastic location by the water and the old mill. Very spacious and lots of storage for clothes. We really enjoyed our stay.
Absolutely beautiful park and lodge. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. Our son used the travel cot and slept very well in the second bedroom. We were lucky enough to have a week of glorious weather so spent a lot of time in the hot tub. Only one tiny negative which was the bedding on the double bed. The duvet is far too small for the cover provided and my husband had about a foot of empty cover, I also had to keep moving it back inside the cover as was falling out the bottom. Apart from that everything was clean and tidy and we are already looking to book a return visit.
Bernard
The property was well presented, warm and stocked for all eventualities. At this time of the year it was quiet and tranquil apart from the wildlife which was very entertaining. My phone Co, did not have a signal in the area but the phone over WiFi service was functional. The Kitchen was fully fitted and easily sufficient for a family of four. This is one property that we would visit again.
Richard
I was really impressed with the lodge, location and facilities The restaurant ... I was really impressed with the lodge, location and facilities The restaurant was really good I had such a good time I have rebooked for my wifes birthday in March
Overall a really great property ,nice and warm with everything you need for a comfortable stay ,things that could be improved the decking area was really dirty with lots of moss that just needed to be swept away and the ensuite shower had quite a lot of mould but other than this a really great property in a fantastic location .
Another fantastic stay at Stonerush Lakes. We brought some friends with us this time who were amazed at location and everything else. The lodge its self was stunning very relaxing. They to will be visiting again. 100 recommendation for anyone who wants to Visit and have a peaceful relaxing holiday
We had a wonderful stay here and I would highly recommend. The lodge was lovely, very comfortable and warm and the location of the hot tub right by the ensuite was fabulous. Went into the Mill bar for a drink on one of the rare nights it was open! Lovely location and plenty to explore from the area. The only slight let down was the cleanliness of the lodge whilst it was overall clean, there were areas that let it down the counter tops not wiped down well and there crumbs over it and we found a couple of toddlers socks down the side of the sofa and our dog located one underneath the sofa! Other than that, a great place to stay and this lodge had fantastic views over the lake which, even in November, it was lovely to sit out with a cup of team in the mornings and watch the fish and birds. I would definitely return.
Natalie
We have stayed at stonerush lakes many times over the years. We always have the best, most relaxing break away.
The setting and peaceful location was stunning! Such a shame that the restaurant and bar was closed due to Covid as we were looking forward to a meal there.
The lodge was very private and relaxing, with an idyllic view. The hot tub was checked every day and had been cleaned thoroughly before we arrived which was reassuring. As mentioned in previous reviews, there are a few issues that need attention in the lodge, including mould around the sink you would not expect to see this for the cost. However the furniture and beds were clean and comfortable. I would not recommend eating at the restaurant, we found the staff quite unfriendly and almost felt like we were intruding. I would also not rely on the takeaway option as this was unavailable throughout our stay. We were unimpressed on our arrival, after driving for several hours and arriving after the local Spa had closed that the restaurant would not even serve us a plate of chips! Even though the kitchen was still serving food they refused to accommodate us including my children. In summary, I would highly recommend the lodge for it's location, but I would come prepared with food and not rely on the restaurant.
Vienna
The scenery was absolutely beautiful, the fish in the lake were friendly, and inquisitive, even the wildlife popped up to say hello including Ratticus, who we took in our stride. There were lovely walks and the hot tub was beautiful, the setting was beautiful!!! The lodge was tastefully designed and modern throughout, the beds were very comfy! It was so peaceful, just what we needed! Unfortunately many areas of the lodge needed a good clean, paying special attention to the sinksbathroomsshowerkitchen having lots of limescale, grime and mould. There was also a lot of cobwebs and dead insects throughout the inside of the lodge within easy reach. The food at The Old Mill was lovely, and the staff were great after your initial meeting. Initially front of house are quite brash, but they soon warm up once they know you. Lastly I do feel that the lack of restaurant availability is slightly unrealistic as twice The Old Mill was 'fully booked' and we couldn't get a table. However there were plenty of empty seating areas inside and out on the decking. Overall this was a great escape, we loved everything it had to offer, and the location was superb close to so many attractions and beautiful fishing towns and villages! Great days out in Fowey, Looe, Polperro, Plymouth, Marzion! We would visit again despite the small suggestions!
Brilliant time away
Well equipped lodge had everything we needed, dishwasher was a nice touch as well! Hot tub was a perfect little addition for relaxation watching the fish and ducks across the lake. Had 2 really good meals at The Old Mill onsite restaurant , good quality food and staff very friendly making you feel welcome.
It was a pity there wasn't a log burner at this property as advertised. But apart from that everything else was excellent.
Beautiful Lakeside cottage, well equipped, plenty of space. The decked area overlooking the lake is an amazing space. Had a fantastic time.
Joanne
The lodge is on a pretty and peaceful site and has a perfect spot on the waters edge. The onsite restaurant serves lovely food and the lodge is a short drive away from the stunning Polperro and Looe. We would definitely return.
It was one of the best holiday homes we have had in recent years. Everything was nice and tidy and in good quality. We really enjoyed hot tub and well equipped kitchen. Really nice scenery and beautiful and well maintained holiday park. Only thing I really recommend to pay attention to is shower heads both of them require improvementsreplacements. Also getting there was tricky at first as all of our GPSs cars one, Google Maps and Garmin were directing via narrow back country roads instead of B3359. Maybe if you could add corresponding note to your welcome letter it could avoid similar experiences? Keep up good job and wishing you all the best for future!
