Just returned from a week at Bydown Lodge and honestly, it was brilliant. The place is cosy and well-equipped, with stunning views. Very peaceful, yet close to plenty of sights. We really enjoyed our stay - would definitely go back!
Emma
Beautiful spot, the cottage is nearly hidden and blends seamlessly into nature.
James
We had such a lovely time at this cosy spot. The wooden beams and charming decor really added to the warm, inviting vibe the moment we arrived. The glass doors, which open in different ways and stretch across the living and kitchen area, were stunning-offering a gorgeous view of the fields with plenty of natural light. We just wanted a quiet place to unwind, enjoy the hot tub, sip wine (the plastic flutes were a nice touch)and relax with our dog. Perfect for that!
Emma
Beautiful spot with stunning views, perfect for nature lovers who enjoy peaceful, green surroundings. Absolutely loved it!
James
We had such a lovely time at Byron Lodge! The setting is simply stunning, nestled among the trees with amazing views over the hillside. Relaxing in the hot tub in the evening, watching squirrels dart around the decking, was such a treat - we didn’t want to leave! Nick and Jen really made us feel welcome, sharing tips on avoiding crowds and discovering new spots in Devon. We’ll definitely be back; it’s a perfect getaway, honestly. Can’t recommend it enough!
James
Really pleased with the service, highly recommend.

We had a lovely stay at this lodge! The scenery was stunning, with plenty of wildlife like owls around. The views really are breathtaking. The lodge was super cosy and had everything we needed for a relaxing break. The hot tub was spotless and nice and warm. It’s a bit of a shame the trees didn’t have more foliage, but overall, we’d definitely recommend it!
Emma
Lovely place, stunning views and super clean. The hot tub was a real treat! The only thing to watch out for is the narrow, single-car road up the steep hill-definitely a bit nerve-wracking, especially if you’re not comfortable with heights like us. Still, worth it for the scenery!
Alex
We picked the Lodge mainly for its charming look and great locationand the roll top bath plus jacuzzi really made it special. My partner and I stayed for a week with our little Border Terrier. Nick and Jen were so helpful, giving us tips on where to eat and fun places to visit. Meeting their kids and Baxter was a lovely bonus! They truly made us feel like we were staying with friendsand their personal touch made all the difference. Thanks so much for a lovely stay, we’d definitely come back!

Our first trip to Devon and definitely not our last! The lodge was stunning, equipped with everything we needed-from top-notch appliances to breathtaking views. Spending time in the hot tub after a day out sightseeing was just perfect. Even the rain didn’t spoil our plans. We loved ice cream from the van on Instow Beach, especially with clotted cream on top. Exploring Ilfracombe, Lynton, Lynmouthand the adorable Creadmore - honestly, it’s one of the prettiest villages I’ve ever seen. A really lovely week at Bydown Lodge. Thanks, Hide!
Mark
We had an absolutely lovely week at Bydown Lodge! The lodge is beautifully presentedand you can tell no expense has been spared on comfort. The location is gorgeous, with some lovely walks around, although we did find it a bit hilly. Nick and Jen are just lovely and always on hand if you need anything. We can't wait to return soon. Just a little tip: there’s no storage for clothes in the bedroom area (just a tiny drawer and a shelf on the bedside table), so we recommend taking some packing cubes to store under the bed.
Jasper
A fabulous place to stay, really well presented throughout. It has everything you need for a relaxing stayand it’s close to some lovely beaches and places to explore. We have a dogand the lodge was super secure, plus he really enjoyed the big fields nearby for an early walk. There’s a nice local pub just a short walk away. The hot tub was lovely, especially after a long day out walking. A big shout out to Colin the motorised mower; the dog adored him! The hosts were incredibly welcoming and always on hand if you needed anything. We loved it and will definitely return!
Clara
Just as described, a beautiful location with easy access to everything we wanted to see or do. Hearing the owls at night and watching the squirrels during the day was such a delight. It’s the perfect spot in the countryside. We left feeling so incredibly relaxed!
Ella
Such a lovely lodge in an ideal spot to explore north Devon. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and always available if we needed anything, but honestly, we didn't have any issues at all.
Sophie
What a brilliant, relaxing weekend we had! We’d recommend it to anyone and can’t wait to come back.
Tom
What a wonderful place to stay! We had the best time. The owners are super friendly and accommodating. We brought our German shepard and had such an amazing experience.
James
We visited in November 2021 for seven nights and had a wonderful time. The lodge is a perfect base to explore North Devon from and that's exactly what we did. All the equipment was first class, spotlessly clean and had a lovely welcoming feel to the place. For us, the hot tub was a massive plus, perfect on a chilly evening after a day’s walking. We'd definitely book the lodge again if we were visiting the area!
